Shadowlawn Eats — Restaurant in Virginia Beach

“Shadowlawn Eats” is a friendly bar with a pleasant “interactive” surfer-themed atmosphere. The customers, the service staff and the kitchen staff become one here.

“Eats” is located directly in the “Shadowlawn” neighborhood of Virginia Beach. Locals can walk, ride their bike or, if necessary, drive a car. Limited “dedicated” off-street parking is available, as well as some limited on-street parking.

The menu offers “unique” lunch, diner & late night items, with weekend breakfast selections.

On my 1st visit I experienced the tasty-riffic “Cuban Sandwich” made better than any “Cuban” I have tasted. My “Cuban” experience is mainly from Key West, Florida (just 90 mikes from Cuba!)..

Watching the movie “Chef”, the day before I visited “Eats”, where they “focused” on the “Cuban Sandwich” inspired me to order the “Eats” “Cuban”.

I was WOW’d by it - plenty of tasty-riffic pork & ham, just enough cheese and pickles on a well-pressed bread. Every bite was a treat to my tongue.

I was particularly impressed with the “interactive” staff, that chatted with me, as they professionally guided me through my “beer” & “menu” options .

Chef/grill-master “Nick” & super-smilin’ server “Tina” high-lighted my visit, but “EATS” staff team “Sue”, “Bobby” & “Brandon” all gave me “more smiles than I came in with”.

Manager “Derrick” introduced himself to me & gave me a tour of their “cozy” outdoor patio area, kinda of hidden in the back.

The full-bar with a nice selection of beers, plus 7 beers on tap will make “EATS” a great hangout spot, especially when Virginia allows bar stools back to work.

I am looking forward to sampling many of the “EATS” menu items & sharing smiles with the staff real soon.

My 2nd visit in 2 days featured more smiles to go with my “Shadowlawn Strips” of yummy-riffic bacon. A flight of dipping spices, plus jars of even more spice options were part of the “presentation”.

“Smiles & Strips” delivered by “Smilin’ Sam” & “Terriffic Tasha” made my 2nd visit to “EATS” as memorable as the 1st visit.

We didn’t even get a chance to eat food because we left I don’t know the servers name because he didn’t introduce himself. Well when he came to the table to take our order before my mom spoke I asked him for more info on the special I saw online about 25% off appreciation for military, first responders etc and how does it work. He then said that they only give military discounts but there’s no specials so when we tried to tell and show him he already walked away with an attitude. I assume he was frustrated about being unaware of the special and looking down at his phone not even acknowledging us when we were trying to show him online and on the flyer posted in the restroom. He then comes back to our table again take our order and as he’s about walk away he asked my mom rudely if she was good she tells him yes I’m good I’m tired and hungry as he walks away he makes a smart remark “oh okay I’m just making sure because we don’t do that round here”. That sounds like a threat why is a man being so aggressive towards 3 women with 2 small children he then mentioned he assumed she had a attitude and that we were trying to offend him because they mentioned his “man bun”. We actually were having a good time thought he was cool and that him and his hair was cute no one meant any offense by the comment. I’d like to say our apologies to him if he felt offended by that comment there was no ill intent in what was said. He also makes a comment about my mom being in the military and he was disappointed when all of this stemmed from him catching a attitude when I inquired about...

So after seeing food pictures on facebook,I decided to "burst the comfort bubble" and go out and try this place ....with that said , let's start with the menu , a little bit of everything to choose from ,at first the choices seemed all over the place ,so I said what the hell ,the wife and I were "all in" so we ordered 3 different apps ,tuna bites , seared avacodo topped with a salsa ,and fresh rolled lumpia , let's start with the tuna bites, definitely fresh seared perfectly with the blackened seasonings cooked to perfection, I'm a huge fan of sushi and raw tuna and I can tell right away that this was very fresh and delicious, The seared avocado with the salsa I believe it had some mango in it was absolutely the perfect balance of flavors My wife who cannot stand onions actually ate them and said how delicious they were, the lumpia I believe was hand-rolled on the legs of virgins, oh my God where these delicious, the sauces there were two different ones One was sweet one was spicy My preference always being the spicy but the wife very much enjoyed the sweet one, main course was a lobster roll and a Philly steak with all the works both of which were amazing, after talking to the manager apparently they tried to locally source all of their ingredients and you could tell either quality of their product, the execution was flawless, the atmosphere was amazing staff was great very attentive, I truly believe if they keep up the same thought process and execution this place will definitely...
