My experience with this campus is strange. During my first pregnancy, we were switching midway to UTMB to see Dr. Kimberlyn Robinson. We were having a really hard pregnancy and the nurses here helped us tremendously when trying to figure out paperwork and getting documents switched over. We never ended up seeing Dr. Kimberlyn Robinson because we had a stillbirth at 5 months.
We are currently on our second pregnancy and were so excited to book an appointment with Dr.Robinson again. The Friday before our Wednesday appointment, we had calls stating that our insurance was not going to cover it due to our insurance being through Kelsey Seybold. I asked to keep the appointment, they said no.
I get it, but I asked to fix it first and the appointment was still cancelled. Fine, policy is policy. After fixing my insurance and speaking with BCBS, they stated I would be able to make an appointment with who I wanted to see. Calling UTMB back, I spoke with a different person, who was either a nurse or someone else who books appointments. I was yelled at. I understand how hard it can be to deal with a crying person on the phone, but I was never given a chance to talk. I was talked over, yelled at, talked down to, and was unable to explain anything about my insurance. That was when I was told I needed a referral. Again, I understand policy, but was told a different issue the first time I called. Instead of letting me speak at all, I felt bullied and hurt by someone who is supposed to help people. Everyone has bad days, but I really can’t imagine any person deserving to be spoken to this way.
It’s unfortunate that when my husband called he was treated better. It’s unfortunate that whoever he got on the phone decided to let him talk and explain what was going on, and to get the exact instructions on what we needed to do, when I was not allowed to speak. When I did speak, I let them know I wasn’t upset with them, I was crying out of stress, but I just wanted to figure out what to do. I hung up after being spoken to so horribly the second time.
Dr. Robinson sounds fantastic and is probably an incredible doctor. I guess I’ll never experience that for myself as we will be going do a different place altogether and will be avoiding UTMB in the future. I’ve seen an OB from UTMB before without needing a referral and never had to get my insurance changed, they told my husband they didn’t know how. I switched from Kelsey Seybold, but they have never spoken to me this way. Just be careful depending on who your insurance is with, UTMB doesn’t...
Read moreIt has taken me days to even gather the strength to type this review. I had the most gaslighting, traumatic experience at this ER. I am leaving this review to warn others so this doesn’t happen to someone else. If you get a doctor by the name of Dr. Wadley…. RUN!! Leave. He will not take care of you. I am disgusted someone like this is allowed to work as a doctor. I have 2 ongoing medical conditions that cause me a lot of problems. I’ve had multiple surgeries. I went to the ER here on 12/4 for extreme pain in my lower stomach and back to the point I couldn’t be at work because I couldn’t stand or function. I was randomly bleeding, very weak and dizzy, shaking, throwing up. This doctor was not even planning to speak to me. I had to beg nurses to bring him over to speak to me. What kind of doctor doesn’t come and speak to their patient?! When he finally came hours later, he immediately started throwing in my face that I’ve had multiple visits. That I was going in circles coming there for no reason wasting his time. I tried explaining the pain I was in and my symptoms and he was rolling his eyes as I spoke, looking the other way, not even listening to me!! He then accused me of “faking my pain and drug seeking” because things were coming back normal and there was no reason that lined up with my pain. I had to beg for an ultrasound to be done. He spoke to me angrily because I did not want a CT scan. He got mad at me for this and was trying to push it on me still regardless of having multiple done already and I didn’t want anymore radiation. I was finally able to do the ultrasound and he finally eventually decided to be a somewhat decent human being and give me pain and nausea meds. However…. He discharged me directly after the ultrasound. Never came to speak to me. He sent me home real quick, boom just like that. I am certain he did not even bother to look at my results. Turns out I had a pretty bad UTI that got worse a few days after I left this ER. I had to go to another hospital for treatment. It could have resulted in a bad kidney infection had I not gone somewhere else for treatment. So thank you Dr. Wadley. Appreciate that. Maybe if ER doctors actually listened to us instead of immediately assuming everyone that comes in is “faking and drug seeking” crap like this wouldn’t happen. This guy should not be working in a hospital nor have a medical license if he is going to treat people like this….. and send people home with literal infections….. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!! I will be reporting...
Read moreThe absolute BEST experience I've ever had at a hospital. Now I may be bias as I was not on the receiving end of the Healthcare. I arrived to the hospital with my dearest friend for a scheduled procedure. The parking garage offered convenient covered parking access to the building, which in this Texas heat you don't take light of having to get into a scolding hot car. The building was clean and refreshingly cool. Once we arrived to the waiting area, we were greeted with a kind receptionist who made signing in a complete breeze. She offered me complimentary coffee and informed me about the exits, restrooms and vending machines/cafeteria/Starbucks locations. She continually gave me feed back on when they would allow me back to sit with my friend until she has been moved into surgery. The waiting room was surprisingly quiet for a hospital so I was able to get in a lot of school work. The nurse staff called me in to sit with my friend until they were ready to transfer her over to the operating room. The doctor and staff were extremely informative regarding the full process and how long the procedure would take. Once she was transferred into surgery, I went back to the waiting area and received texts regarding the procedure and her whereabouts. Let me tell you, this put my mind at such ease!! They also give you a ID number in which you can locate on the patient board to determine where your loved one is during the duration of the stay. After the procedure was complete, the doctor personally notified me of the results of the surgery and that all went smooth. Once my friend was fully awake, they walked me back to the recovery room and I was able to sit with her as the nurses discussed recovery and discharge procedures. Caitlyn and Ashley were so genuinely sweet, knowledgeable and compassionate!! I can not say enough to show our appreciation and gratitude to the staff for going above and beyond during the length of our stay. Hands down the most unified team I've seen in a very long time. You can clearly tell they communicate and care for one another which makes it easier for the patients and guests to receive the most professional care and service one can provide. My friend noticed an immediate difference after the procedure and was so thrilled to finally have some relief from all of her pain! Thank you Dr. Rishi Rajiv Lall, MD and staff for a truly...
