I love the idea of this place, but in practice, due to operational costs it doesn't seem feasible with the prices they have to charge. Their selection of gaming materials, whether tabletop, board, or MTG is extremely limited. They charge $35 per person, per session for DND campaigns, and I'm glad that good DMs can actually be paid for their hard work, but $35 is just far outside the realm of possibility for many people, especially considering gas prices to get to the store.
It's a trade off. Online you can find good games for $5-10 a session, and there's very little overhead for the DMs, but being a store and needing to make a profit to stay open forces them to charge $35 for games, and $25 with a membership. While I'm sure this is a great option for hardcore gamers, it's simply not in the budget for more casual people, couples, or family's.
My suggestion for the owners: diversify your product offerings and dedicate more space to them. The products themselves should be the draw, if you increase the volume of your physical good sales, you can decrease your session costs immensely. Your main revenue sources of revenue should come from models, paints, accessories, and events/tournaments entry fees, and of course snack and beverage sales.
I really like the tables, the chairs, and the owners I met. I like what they're trying to do with have more campaigns, and paying DMs, it's obvious that they are passionate about gaming and not in it for the money. I also believe this will fit a niche for a select group of people that will enjoy it. However I believe they're limiting themselves by not appealing to a greater demographic of customers, and I believe it could be remedied with the right capital investments.
TLDR: if you're a gamer looking for games on demand and a nice, clean place to play them with comfortable furniture and nice staff, look no further. Just be prepared to pay for it. And probably shop many of your desired...
Read moreIt's a really nice place to look at. They also have a cool not really seen elsewhere option of 3D printing stuff for your hobbies, But they are not very inclusive when it comes to their game options. Yugioh, magic and those war hammer things. 🙄 ALSO they are the type of shop that will sell WAY above MSRP. went in and saw some Disney Lorcana packs and was like "oh cool! How much? For one I SINGLE pack? and they said $12.99....the MSRP on a single pack is 5.99. Then was their during a yugioh tournament and I JUST wanted to buy some dice for a game, over heard a worker talking to a player as he was counting head of people waiting in like at the register. Though I only wanted dice. I waited Ina long time and the non worker said "wait why are you counting her? She don't look like she'd be in the tornament." First of all, why? Did I not LOOK like a yugioh player? Becuase I could go get my deck if I need to. Second of all, how dare you allow someone to stereotype one look at me and agree that ya your right she dint look like she belongs here..that was very nice or inclusive to anybody. Worker didn't even try to come up and ask of o was therr for the tournament and counted me OUT! Not a place I'd like to be of your gonna immediately judge me put the the jerks that are already their...I'm from Cali so it broke my heart that the real only place would lose my trust to scalping costs and having that kind of crowd. I don't do toxic environments. Ima just...
Read moreThis is a medium size shop situated in a decently popular mall in Wichita Falls
I am just beginning my journey into the wonderful world of warhammer 40k, I 3D printed some models and wanted to get painting, so I went to this shop to get some paints and general advice.
Despite them knowing I was clueless, they suggested I start with the cheaper paints and sets and gave several pointers on colors, paints, etc. they could have exploited me for some money but were instead honest about the entire ordeal
Their staff are also incredibly nice and welcoming. Despite being out my element and being a little clueless on basic topics, they were patient with me and were very passionate about their hobby’s and loved to share their experiences to people like me
Overall, don’t be afraid of the price (this is warhammer after all) these people will make sure you want to come back and love every...
