On the 21st of January I made an advance booking for Sunday 17th of March, and on the 14th of March I was asked by email to confirm the booking, which I did promptly. I then received a reminder email 24 hours before the booking.
Unfortunately, a few hours after this reminder email I received a voicemail to say that you couldn’t take bookings on the 17th of March because there was an event on, the footy, and that there must’ve been an error when I initially booked.
This was extremely disappointing to say the least. First of all, there was plenty of opportunity for my booking to be cancelled in advance so I could make other arrangements. Not to mention, given the multiple reminders and confirmation the week off, I did not expect at all for this to be cancelled last minute. Secondly, the football schedule was released prior to me making the booking in Jan, I know this because I have a membership and was making this booking specifically to attend before the game. As you chose to cancel last minute, on a game day, I was unable to make other arrangements.
Lastly, not once in the voicemail that was left did the person apologise for the inconvenience. A lack of apology in this situation is extremely poor, if you can’t honour my booking the absolute very least you could do...
Read moreSadly, after two years of being regulars, we won't be going back. The last two times, the food has been horrible. We used to go because we craved the club sandwich - it was the best one in the city (now it isn't even a club - no bread in the middle "they changed the menu", and we had to argue with them because it didn't even have chicken. Seriously, we got a bacon & egg sandwich, and a bad one at that). We also loved the benny, but last time, it tasted like someone spilled the entire salt container into it. Today they charged us $4 to make something vegetarian (switching out the bacon for spinach - which we used to do no problem and this time they told us to order something vegetarian on the menu). So, we added the spinach ($4) and kept the bacon because someone at our table would have eaten it, but it came out barely cooked after asking it to be crispy. The final straw was the management/supervisor arguing and making excuses instead of making any attempt to fix it/help a customer (a regular at that). The service staff still seem great (polite, helpful, and they do a great job), but something is going south behind the scenes. Writing this in hopes that things get corrected. But...
Read moreI came here with a group on friends on February 8th 2025, had the Miso Tofu salad which was delightful. The tofu, nicely cubed, the radish finely sliced, there was numerous edamame beans and generous parsnip chips to garnish. However, today 10/7/25 after telling my husband how delicious it was and rushing back to enjoy the miso salad....it was horrendous and virtually inedible! The plating up needs work, the tofu was just plonked on the plate, virtually no miso flavour, the radishes were just chopped in halves and too hard/raw to cut to even eat them. There 3 parsnip chips and no edamame beans. To pay for $26 for such a mediocre salad is really irritating and disappointing. Maybe today's chef was less qualified/talented but this dish needs to keep being made the way it was back in February. Todays dish has soured my experience of Home Ground and I will not be returning, nor bringing anyone else here.
Everything is far too overpriced for what guests actually receive. Service is very lack lustre. The music is too loud and in poor taste. My recommendation is...
