I felt the woman with the glasses at the counter should provide helpful rather than unhelpful comments. A simple, "apologies we don't provide that dish but only what is on display" should suffice. To put things into context, I asked for soup and was told to go elsewhere for it. As I was still tired from yesterday's surgery (with a huge dressing over my neck), all I wanted was to sit down and dine in. So I asked for a toasted sandwich instead. She then commented "Oh I thought you wanted soup; toasted sandwich and soup are very different meals! (unhelpful comment). To which I responded with, "All I wanted was something warm" before she offered that meals in the display could be warmed up. The point I am making is simply to provide what the customer wants (i.e., toasted sandwich) and to keep your comments to yourself. What a contrast to the happy helpful staff at the ground level Cafe one recieves. Will never return to espresso, worst experience ever at a Cafe,a most unpleasant end to what had been a very pleasant visit to other areas of the hospital. I've been in customer service all my life and nothing compares to the depressing atmosphere this Cafe emits, even the customers didn't look happy. Plenty of tables free (over 50% of the cafe), yet a male at the cafe asked me to leave after 1 hour. Yes, there are signs stating this and I accept that. But, surely if you had free tables you wouldn’t literally time how long someone is sitting at a table and ask them to leave. If the cafe tables were busy, which I was monitoring, I would have left without any fuss or even having been asked.

I would never buy anything again from this cafe purely on principle. However, luckily for them I doubt they will miss my business as they are in prime position and will get plenty of customers.
