The short - go give them a try and you will be pleased. Coffee, shakes or food menu.
The long but detailed review:
In a coffee shop, one tends to look at three things...
Product - Mi Casa Cafe certainly delivers on their product. They do not compromise on quality. The milk and alternatives are selected based on texture and tastes. I have also tasted their menu and really enjoyed the care and attention to detail they put in their quality and presentation as well as execution in delivering it.
On top of this, the general ambience is inviting. More on the people later.
Process - as a regular at Mi Casa Cafe, I tend to get an opportunity to watch their process. I see them using mini scales to weight their grind prior to executing in their expresso machine. That is just pride in their brand. I have also been fortunate to have popped by at times when their suppliers have been around, and it shows a symbiotic relationship. Both are focused on delivering a quality product.
People - second to none. There is customer service and then there is Mi Casa. I find that they are built on building relationships with their customers on first name basis but also on a personal level where the whole team can have fun while working and interacting with customers. From owner to staff they are a good team.
PS. It's not a Michelin Cafe... But it is a fun inviting cafe that delivers a great menu.
Footnote: the cafe does not serve pork products.
Final note: I did not know the owner until I...
Read moreGood coffee (almond milk cappuccino) and baked goods (chocolate croissant) served in a clean, vibrant atmosphere. Service is also good, efficient and friendly. Great, convienient location attached to South Bank train station. I love that they don't impose any silly surcharges on card transactions. The menu price reflects what you actually pay, as it should be here in Australia :) That alone makes me want to come back here! Only downsides are that it can be confusing when ordering at the counter. Food is often brought to the wrong table when you point to where you will be sitting. Table numbers are not listed on the table (if you dont want to scan QR). They should print the table number on each table or, better yet, just hand out a number on a table stand like most places do when customers order at the counter. Another downside is that all the seating is tables; no booths. Next, they don't offer macadamia milk (but they do have almond, oat, and soy). Last downside is they don't offer a halloumi option for the eggs benedict. You can add haloumi for $5, but I'd rather just have haloumi instead of bacon, salmon, etc. and not have to pay more for it. I didnt ask, but menu should be amended to allow for this. Overall, a nice place worth trying, especially when early for a train at Southbank...
Read moreI've been a regular customer at this café for a long time, and it's always been one of my favourites. The staffs are consistently friendly, and the strawberry matcha was absolutely delicious, the coffee is amazing, and the food is consistently great.
However, I feel really disappointed and uncomfortable about something I’ve experienced several times recently. While dining in, I've repeatedly heard a man—I'm not sure who he is. shouting very loudly from the backside of the shop. It’s not just loud talking; it’s aggressive yelling, often including F-words and other really inappropriate language. This has happened on multiple occasions, and it’s been quite upsetting.
I’ve brought colleagues here for meetings and friends for catch-ups, but the atmosphere has become so unpleasant that it's actually affected our ability to enjoy the food or conversation.
I really like this café and I want to keep supporting it, but I hope whatever is going on behind the scenes can be addressed. It would be great if guests could enjoy their meals without having to overhear this kind of behaviour. I say this as someone who genuinely cares about the place and wishes the...
