My wife and I were looking for a special place to have a meal, it wasn't a special occasion just wanted lovely atmosphere with great service in an old charm setting. We certainly found it with Strangers restaurant. Couldnt recommend this higher if you are wanting a special dinner out. The service by both our waiters was great, friendly and professional. We opted to go to the Lucinda bar first for pre dinner drink and then to our table. You either choose a 2 course or 3 course meal, and the value is quite reasonable - we opted for the 2 course meal and also ordered a bottle of red. When ordering the 2 course my wife chose entree and main, while I chose main and dessert. A nice way to share. My wife had the red emperor while I had the steak. Both delicious and well prepared. This is a fine dining restaurant and doesn't disappoint. Be careful, we were walking around trying to find the entrance, you need to go down Alice street towards the freeway to the Parliamentary Annexure for security checkin, bring your driver's license or some form of identification. That was a downer not knowing the location of the entrance - the booking through Open Table warned us of photo id.
The price we shared includes pre dinner drinks and a...
Read moreAll I can say is, “WOW!” I don’t quite understand why I was the only person there for a 2:00 lunch, but poor me, getting the undivided attention of the kitchen and the waiter. I told him I felt more like an invited guest of the family than a customer. I even got a pair of amuse bouches (is that the plural?); I’ve never had an amuse bouche, I’ve only seen it on Top Chef!
How spoiled did I feel? Very.
Okay Brisbaners,(Brisbanites? Brisbantonites?), here is the best kept secret in your lovely, bustling town. Go! Eat! Enjoy!
Thanks all for an experience that I’ll never forget. I...

For my sitting I chose the Wagyu Beef Tartare, and mains was the Pork Cutlet.
Both dishes were deftly prepared. The Wagyu was diminutive but very satisfying, and I was very satisfied at the conclusion of the entree.
The pork was succulent and the jus was rich. Best pork dish I've had for years.
The mango dessert was a flawless finish to the meal. It was shared but regrets abound. Two should've been ordered.
I'll be coming back for the unique mix of historical decor with modern cuisine and tactful but...
