Excellent food, coffee, and atmosphere, but it loses a star because the timing of the coffee and food delivery is way off. You get your coffee and then by the time food arrives your drink is almost done. So, you order a second coffee and by the time it arrives your food is almost done. So, you are basically either eating or drinking, just not at the same time. The place often is very busy, and the staff is very friendly and always working hard, so part of the issue with having table service in this type of busy atmosphere is waiting for your server to find time to stop by your table. The management really needs to find a way to improve operations so that food and drinks are delivered more closely together, ideally at the same time, perhaps by implementing QR codes at tables to place orders so customers don't need to wait for their server, or doing away with table service altogether and instead having a dedicate area of the back counter for placing dine-in orders. Other than that one big issue, everything else here is great and the vibe is very clean, cozy,...

This place used to be my go to coffee spot from the city.I used to come to city in the morning just for a coffee from Strauss!

But today was pretty disappointed. Every table were untidy. And the barista who served us asked me that if I had to sit at “this” table (well, the other tables conditions were the same .the least untidy one🤷‍♂️) And Why do you take orders like you’re scolding customers? receiving the order from us the barista went to next table for cleaning and went through our table checking my order. Letting me start my order why ignoring my order on a same time. This was the same last time. But that barista said hi to the other guys so, can be gentle to the other regulars 🤷‍♂️maybe just unfortunately im not that regular customer. And the reason why im writing this review is, Coffee flavour was burnt and watery this time.can nail that rudeness if the coffee was still good. But guys, the reason for 2stars is my last hope to get your good...

Stopped in for lunch here on a weekday after hearing a fair bit about it. We sat in the alleyway outside which was nice on a good afternoon. It also means you get a prime view of the punters in the TAB next door discarding their slips after a loss. The service was very friendly and our attendant made sure we were well looked after and offered recommendations. Despite hearing some great things about the coffee here, I opted for a rhubarb and watermelon juice and the Bruschetta, which was a generous serving of heirloom tomatoes with bocconcini, proscuitto and pesto - well worth returning for. I felt bad for the woman at the next table who ordered the same only to find out that we'd gotten the last two serves.

I've heard a bit about the place being quite busy but we stopped in about 1 and managed to miss the rush. I'd definitely come back for a second meal and to give their coffee a...

Hidden deep down a laneway, this gem of a cafe is a place you'll regret walking past. I had come with a friend for brunch and we were welcomed nicely by staff. The cafe draws you in with the smell of fresh coffee and the cosy atmosphere. I had started with a latte which had the perfect amount of froth and tasted amazing. I then ordered the Avocado toast. The clean and simple presentation of the dish was extremely mouth-watering. The rye bread had a crunchy crust while having a fluffy inside. The combination of flavours were exceptional - from the fresh avocado and marinated feta drizzled with lemon, it was very pleasing on the tongue. The pricing is fair as the dish had the perfect portion while also using high-quality ingredients. Overall, I believe Strauss is one of the best cafes in the Brisbane CBD and recommend this place to everyone.

A small cafe located within a quiet alleyway in Brisbane CBD. The cafe was decorated nicely, clean, and had a nice rustic feel to it. It seemed welcoming and homely. However, staff didn’t seem as friendly, and didn’t seem to want to greet us (took us a while before we were acknowledged and seated, and similar when we were trying to pay)… There was a decent range of food available and that is what was good about this place. I had a bagel with halloumi, egg, tomato, labneh and rocket, as well as chilli jam. It was very nice but also extremely filling. Thoroughly enjoyed the food. I’d come back for the food but definitely not the service. I’d rate it 3.5 (with the -1.5 from the service we received)…
