Absolutely appalling Customer Service, the staff were extremely rude and the food was far from ok.
After eating here I decided to google reviews on West End Garden and discovered that they were fined 37k for food safety violations.
You just need to look at prior negative Customer feedback and the reastrants response to get a taste of their attitude.
Honestly I would stay clear of eating here and a word of advice to the reastrant “Customers come first not your ego and uncleanliness”.
The most concerning thing is recent reports of food poisoning in their reviews.
News article from 2015:
Council prosecutor Mark Thomas had previously told the court that authorities had found ice cream balls, a tea towel and dish cloth contaminated with salmonella.
He also said chicken and beef had been found tenderising in a sink at a dangerous temperature.
The most alarming practice is that of the tenderising of the chicken and beef in sinks in the kitchen area without any temperature control method being explained to the council officer at the time,” Mr Thomas told the court.
“Those meats were recorded at temperatures of 24 degrees for the chicken and 24.9 degrees for the beef.”
When sentencing Mr Nguyen on Friday, Magistrate Jason Schubert said the restaurant had put members of the community at risk.
“From the pictures exhibited to the court and from the facts presented, including the storing of chicken and beef at incorrect temperatures, it was hardly unexpected that a dish cloth, a tea towel and metal scour tested positive to salmonella as ultimately did the ice cream balls that were consumed by the five diners,” Justice Schubert said.
But he also noted the significant lengths Mr Nguyen had gone to in order to improve the standard of cleanliness in his restaurant.
“I am informed that the premises is again operating with a four star safety certificate,” he said.
Mr Nguyen has been given one year to...
Read moreIn the middle of a bustling evening, craving Vietnamese cuisine, we decided to walk into West End Garden, eager for a flavorful experience. Little did we know that selecting items from their menu would be a rookie mistake on our part.
We spent $150 exploring their offerings, which, according to the owner’s response, was clearly our fault for daring to choose the dishes they listed. From the Chinese spring rolls (just barely edible) to the Vietnamese papaya salad that tasted more like a dessert, the meal spiraled downhill rapidly. The rice paper rolls with pork delivered a unique twist: they tasted like they’d been sitting out in the sun for three days, a flavor profile I wasn’t quite prepared for.
As for the Sichuan pork dish, I was looking forward to the signature fiery, tongue-tingling spice of Sichuan sauce, but instead, I got something closer to a sugary barbecue experiment gone wrong. And the wonton noodle soup? It was so bland and lifeless, it felt like the chef forgot to finish the recipe.
While we were hoping to immerse ourselves in authentic Vietnamese cuisine, we were graciously informed later by the owner that we had chosen Chinese dishes from the menu—because apparently, understanding what you’re eating is too much to ask from their descriptions or the staff. They have recommended in the reply to this review that we choose better next time. Sadly, after this experience, “next time” won’t be happening.
If West End Garden is a representation of either Chinese or Vietnamese cuisine, both cultures deserve far better. Save your money—and...
Read moreGREAT FUN ! When my wife and I moved into a beautiful ocean front town home in the quiet Brisbane bayside suburb of Cleveland in July, 2003 little did we know how much fun it would be for the next 3 years. The ocean front complex of 9 townhomes in a gated enclosure was barely a few months old when we moved in......in fact 4 were still vacant. Within the next few months the place became fully occupied with a combo of owners and renters. And we became friends with everyone...it was so much fun. Most weeks a few of us would go out to dinner together....to local Indian, Thai, Italian & Chinese restaurants. One of our gang introduced us to West End Garden in the inner Brisbane City suburb of West End. Of course with Brisbane being my hometown I was very familiar with West End...a cool neck of the woods to live back in the early 70's....cheap rent and close to the city. We would usually have dinner at West End Garden with our town home friends on special occasions..... birthdays etc. It was a fun place to eat...very relaxed, laid back vibe...not too formal. And the food and drinks were great......most of us would go for the banquet..8 or 9 courses with a Fried Ice Cream finale. I LOVE FRIED ICE CREAM ! And trust me we all had a great time every time ! Most of our town home friends attended our wedding in June, 2006 and we are still friends with many of them to this day. The last time we were here was in late 2006 when our town home friends and more came to give us an Aussie style send-off before we moved to California. A...
