Fables regularly have discounts so it is worth looking. This review is from a two for one discount.
The selection leans heavily towards seafood. There is an impressive selection of good quality seafood including oysters, prawns, mussels and crab. The salads are also incorporate a lot of seafood such as smoked salmon, octopus etc. If you are a seafood lover, this alone will bring value when considering the discounts.
Other cold-bar items include some meats (hams, salami etc) and some salads. There was also a taco/burrito bar which is novel. Selection of fillings with chicken or beef.
Hot food selection was decent and probably not something to complain or write home about. However, the selection was larger than I thought considering the space.
Desserts were also impressive. Cake portions were small enough that you can sample as many as you like. A variety of ice cream will keep the sweet too the and kids excited. There is also a great cheese platter that would go well with the $12 wine bar.
My only criticism would be that there isn't much space left for a variety of vegetarian options. However, if you discuss with the wait or kitchen staff, I suspect the restaurant will be accommodating.
With the right discounts, I think Fables is great value. Even if you think of it as an all you can eat oyster bar for $40... Would recommend to anyone that...
Read moreA stunningly friendly happy Managing Team Members and their front of house team simply put wonderful. The service was excellent at all times. Greatest food, brilliant service the food selection was seafood par excellence. All the food was perfection, huge selection to choose from. Creative, decent, brilliant pricing, stunning selections for everybody. Cheese board, extras, everything including the staff were 100% the best. Greatest asset the TEAM Managers and all the front of house wait staff. Spotless and clean, decent, friendly, soft music, and the lighting was very very kind. One arrogant customer chose to use both his mobile and lap top to scream into both with, whilst attempting to gourge his huge mouth with food, screaming into the mobile showing pictures of the food selection, wearing thongs, and mouth as big as the ocean, was a hard act to follow. Thankfully the Management Team advised the offending patron that there actually were other people attempting to dine also, in peace.!!. Revenge is best served cold on a platter sans the prawns!!!. We dined in a delicate fashion and two glorious hours passed and what a stunning evening. The chefs were stunning also, well done to everybody. Kudos to you,...
Read moreSeafood buffet two for one deal. Firstly, the service was excellent; from the young Indian lady on the front desk who remembered our name from the booking to the attentive waiters and the chefs who informed customers when dishes were coming up, they were all above expectations. I hope the management looks after such good staff. The wine buffet is a welcome innovation and the wines - red, white and sparkling - represented good value for money. In regard to the food, the oysters were small but very fresh, likewise the prawns. The seafood salads were tasty. Of the non-seafood dishes the pork with apple and maple glaze was a standout (and I'm ordinarily no fan of pork), being succulent.tender and tasty. Desserts were of a wide variety and a basic cheese board was also available. If you can get the two for one deal this represents v. good value dining in Surfers Paradise and is a must do. 3.5 stars from me, and I'm a hard marker. If the lamb and steak were up to the standard of the pork it would...
