This was a very spontaneous visit, and let me say Gnocchi Gnocchi brothers did not disappoint.
Before I start on my experience I have to preface this: mopping bread and desert are manditory to the experience. It heightens the dinning experience and leaves you completely satisfied.
Today for lunch we decided to try this little hole in the wall at Riverlink, it was spontaneous and I was not expecting to have such a positive experience that I would spend the end of meal writing this review.
We started with the Mushroom & truffle Arancini and a house salad with pear and roasted pine nuts. It was at this point I forgot my agenda for the day, the taste, flavour and texture blasted my days priorities out of my mind and left me wanting more. The starter was amazing it raised the expectation bar to new heights, the surprise was the price point is far bellow the quality that was put on the plate.
Main course was delivered, a Creamy Basil pesto Gnocchi, the vibrant creamy green color with small cloudy pillows of deliciousness was presented to me with my side of extra Chilli sauce. It was a master piece on a plate and the joy of cansuming such a delight is well and truly the high point of my day. Coming to the end of the plate with the remaining creamy pesto sauce demanded me to mop it up with the best mopping bread I have ever paid for. Fresh and seasoned with oil was perfect for the job making short work of the remaking sauce.
After the meal I had the joy to endulge in a Sicilian Ricotta Cannolo, the cherry on top of the cake for this experience.
TLDR; the quality of the meal far exceeds the price point, I am leaving this establishment feeling like I had a 5star meal in heart of Italy. Thank you Gnocchi Gnocchi Brothers, we will...
Read moreAfter a craving for Italian food and not feeling like the drive to Redcliffe to enjoy authentic Italian on the waterfront we stayed close to home and ordered “arancini balls” a “fungi and a carbonara gnocchi” and a “spaghetti bolognaise”. Well from now on we will drive the hour and a half to Redcliffe. The food was terrible, so far removed from Italian the gnocchi was stodgy not of a smooth consistency it had a chalky mouth feel, the sauces were not the right consistency, if it wont coat the back of a spoon when you run your finger through it and hold it doesn’t go out the kitchen they also lacked the flavour the arancini balls we’re greasy and flavourless the spaghetti sauce was watery bland in flavour and one spoon was enough and overall would not recommend. We threw our food out and could not eat it which is really disappointing from a food waste perspective and $$$ in the bin but I won’t force myself to eat food that makes me feel nauseous and lacks any love in its production. Oh I forgot to mention the massive oil slick of what appeared to be butter floating on top of the fungi “sauce”. It has a mass produced off site then reheated in store feel to...
Read moreGnocchi bros has really let the quality of their product slip in recent years… For example:
The bolognese use to be rich, hearty and wonderful with a slight spice now it’s just bland slop with a horrible mouth feel.. like gritty mash potato.
The carbonara use to be porky, creamy and slightly salty now it’s just watery UHT milk and to be frank it’s not worth 19$ as I feel I’ve had better carbonara at a buffet.
The gnocchi itself use to be pillowy and delightful now it’s just mushy and tacky, reminiscent of gritty, claggy soggy bread or fake potato.
Everything is woefully under seasoned…
All of this wouldn’t be an issue if the mains were half the price or cheaper, but the sit-in meal is quite expensive.
I’ve been 3 times in 1 year and each time I’ve left utterly disappointed but this time I’m not going back.
Can’t say I recommend Gnocchi bros anymore as I feel like they have become a sellout franchise which is so disappointing as they USED to be so good.
Can’t even finish what I purchased as it’s just that disappointing what a...
