Eight of us, friends from Sydney, Canberra, and Melbourne met in Albury and looked for a place to celebrate our health and friendship. We had picked 2640 because of good online reviews. The restaurant and location: Established in late 2018, the 2640 Restaurant + Bar is co-located with the Quest Hotel at 550 Kiewa St., down the southern end of Albury. There are easy parking nearby The ambiance The premises are located on the ground floor with clear glass panels and easy wheelchair entrances on both sides. The spacious, well-lit, and tastefully decorated dining space is bisected by the well-stocked bar island into two different areas with different ambiance. The dining room which is girt by glass panels is a congenial conventional dining room while the other dining area has a chic and colourful ambiance with benches, cushions, high tables, and an impressive full length wall mural depicting Albury surrounds and lifestyle. It has been created by a local artist Kadesarte@artofsarte. In my opinion, it is worth a visit to this establishment just to view this artwork. The cuisine The menu has a good variety. The generously portioned dishes are inventive, well presented, and always served on a bed of finely cut fresh and lightly cooked vegetables which look and taste refreshingly superior than the average mains one finds in other restaurants with three boiled or roasted vegetables on the side or piled up raw greens which make the diner feels like a cow. The service The owners, Joel and Robert, and their crew are very friendly, obliging, and passionate about providing the diners with an enjoyable dining experience. We had such a great time exchanging banters with Joel that we went back for lunch the next day before we all left for home. The overall impression It isn’t a starched tablecloth and napkin type of fine dining facility, and I can’t say it is the best restaurant-bar in Albury, since we had only visited three restaurants during our short visit. However, based on its own merit as a restaurant, I am happy to vouch for this establishment as one of the top restaurants which provide enjoyable casual dining experiences. It has certainly made our visit to...

17 march 2023 Went for my pre birthday dinner early and also before a work function. (Birthdays I really lash out) The food is still amazing, oyster Kilpatrick was so similar to my recipe, so obviously amazing and no cleaning up afterwards!! Yay. Unfortunately, we have now been priced out of their venue, as I know many locals will be. (I'll attach photos of the new menu) who could justify the red meat option for $44.00 for 250grams. When the work function started, Without interference, everyone had the same opinion and ordered starters as their main because of the pricing, they mentioned they won't be going back either. I fear this venue has priced themselves out of the local market, they have great food, but also we are a rural city, not bustling metropolis. I am heartbroken I won't be returning anytime soon as will be most peopl I know.

Best of luck though. You are still great. I'll miss you.

P.s. The seating could do with a clean.... Maybe some TLC on Skirting boards too..? Ref photos.

What a fantastic experience. Super friendly staff and amazing food. The eye fillet came out and looked so good I forgot to take a photo and dived straight in. I could drink the mushroom jus it was that good. I would really recommend a visit

Update March 2021 If I could give 6 stars I would. Best Eggs Benedict in Australia so far. And quality for the price is amazing. Thank you again....

My family came in Albury NSW from Melbourne to visit a place. We dined at 2640 Restaurant and Bar and I must say, it was an exceptional experience. The ambiance of the restaurant was elegant and inviting, with dim lighting and cozy seating. The service was top-notch, with attentive and friendly staff who made sure we had everything we needed.

Now, let's talk about the star of the show - the steak. The steak truly lives up to its name with the quality of their steaks. I ordered the 250 eye fillet cooked medium-well and it was cooked to perfection. The steak was juicy, flavorful, and melt-in-your-mouth tender. It was served with a side of creamy mashed potatoes and a fresh garden salad, which complemented the steak beautifully.

Today special was crocodile spring roll, which was the most delicious entree I had so far. (I have attached the crocodile spring roll photo)

Overall, I had a fantastic dining experience at 2640 Restaurant and Bar. If you are looking for best meal for a high-quality dining experience, I highly recommend giving this restaurant a try.

I regret that I didn’t take a photo of steak. But, I am still thinking about it and heading home to Melbourne.

I will definitely come again.

Thank you 2640...

My wife and I had the pleasure of dining at 2640 Restaurant and Bar, and the experience was nothing short of exceptional. The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the steak cooked to a perfect medium-rare, accompanied by a medley of flavorful vegetables, creamy mashed potatoes, and a delectable mushroom sauce. Each bite was a symphony of tastes and textures that left me thoroughly satisfied. Equally impressive was the attention given to the younger diners (our kiddlets). The kids were treated to a premium and refined bolognese that showcased the restaurant's commitment to catering to all tastes. It was heartening to witness the children not only enjoying their meals, but also eagerly cleaning their plates (rare in our household). 2640 Restaurant and Bar managed to strike a balance between gourmet dining and a family-friendly atmosphere, offering an unforgettable culinary experience for all ages. The combination of expertly prepared dishes, welcoming ambiance, and attentive service truly sets this establishment apart. If you're looking for a dining destination where both adults and children can indulge in a delightful feast, this restaurant should be at the top of your list.
