EXTREMELY DISGUSTING SERVICE
I don’t usually write a review, in my opinion when I have not so good experience in a restaurant, I will not to make a big fuss and just don’t come back to the restaurant ever again as simple as that. But the experienced I had in Hawkers Cuisine force me to write a review because I never experienced extremely terrible service in my whole life. Anyway, this incident happened on Sunday 30th October 2016, we booked a table of 7 at 7pm to have a little celebration dinner for friend’s birthday. We arrived at the restaurant at 7.15 (15 minutes late), we went to the counter and spoke to the SHORT HAIR LADY that we have a booking at 7pm. Then the SHORT HAIR LADY replied us very rudely “I have only two hands, just wait your table is being cleaned and walk away. At that moment we are a little bit stunned and confused. Then She came back to us sarcastically said “your booking is for 7pm and now is already 7.15, we have to give away your table”. At that point we were offended not because of she giving away our table but because of the way she spoke to us and I said to the SHORT HAIR LADY “Do you have a table for us or not? If you don’t, its ok, we can go somewhere else. And the SHORT HAIR LADY seems just don’t give a damn about losing a potential customers. So I went to the manager (she was wearing different shirt) and tell her about what happened, she doesn’t seem to care either, so we left and had dinner elsewhere. If only the SHORT HAIR LADY inform us nicely with a good manner about we were late for our booking and she had to give away our table. We will understand the situation and we were more than happy to wait for another available table, as we are not in a rush. Bottom line, WILL NEVER COME BACK AGAIN and will make sure to tell family and friends about the...
Read moreIf you're craving authentic Malaysian cuisine in Perth, look no further than Hawker Cuisine located at Roe St, Northbridge.
This bustling restaurant offers a wide variety of Malaysian dishes that are sure to satisfy your taste buds. One of their standout dishes is the mouthwatering Marmite Chicken, which is a must-try for any food lover. We saw the couple at next table really enjoying the dish and we will definitely order that next time.
We ordered the Hawker's fried rice, fried noodles and Tofu and salted Mustard soup which are all delicious too.
Apart from the savory dishes, Hawker Cuisine also offers a delightful dessert that is a crowd-pleaser - their Ice Kacang. I would consider it the best in Perth, this traditional Malaysian dessert is a medley of shaved ice, colourful jellies, red beans, and a generous drizzle of syrup, all topped with a dollop of creamy coconut milk. They are very generous in putting a number of lychees too. The ice is soft to the mouth and balance with the sweetness and creaminess in the Ice Kacang is just perfect, making it a refreshing and satisfying perfect dessert after the main dishes.
The ambiance at Hawker Cuisine is vibrant and lively, with a bustling atmosphere that makes you feel like you're dining in the heart of Malaysia. However, the place is a bit old and cramped.
The service staff are friendly and attentive, and they are knowledgeable about the dishes on the menu.
In summary, Hawker Cuisine is a gem of a restaurant in Northbridge, Perth, offering authentic Malaysian Asian cuisine that is sure to delight your taste buds. There are many other tempting dishes on the menu waiting for...
Read moreUpdate: Since my first review nearly a year ago (below), we now come here All. The. Time. Seriously, we're addicted. Love these guys :) ---------(original review)---Went here for the first time tonight and it was a lot of fun! Because of Chinese New Year at the moment, they had the Pak Mei Yaolin Kung Fu lions visit (these guys were excellent!), well worth it and something to keep in mind for next year (maybe bring ear plugs). One thing to note is that a lot of the menu was different because of CNY. At any rate, the food was well worthwhile and we'll be back again. We tried the three layer teh peng drink (gula melaka, condensed milk tea), marmite chicken, pork belly, laksa, seafood fried rice; all of them were good choices. I had a laksa connoisseur with me, he was happy with it, which is a rarity :) I'm not sure what the listed name/description of the pork belly dish was, although it turned out to be a shredded cucumber/carrot/onion/coriander-type salad with lots of crispy pork belly skin (no meat) through it, I thought it was a...
