Food is nice taste lovely, but sadly that you won't receive a proper service at this restaurant. We went to the restaurant today, the staff did not bring us to a table, instead asked us to choose whichever we preferred, that's fine. After ordered, didn't expect that I need to clear the menu put it back to their counter by myself, fine, still can work around this. Then the food came, didn't know that we have to grab the cutlery tray from other empty table when the restaurant is pretty quiet, about 4 tables with guests included us, while two girls at the front don't even bother to bring cutlery to us, fine. After that, I ordered extra hot teh tarik. Again, most of the tables have their food served already, shop is quiet, not busy at all. But that two girls rather talking and chitchat to each other and totally forgot to make the drink for us. I only realize when it was 20mins after, so I asked the staff for the drinks. She then said, 'ok we will make for you now'. Ends up she came back to me and asked whether I ordered a 'hot' or 'cold' drink, how perfect it is? Not even write down the order at all.
I wonder if the business owner prefer to run the business like a budget restaurant in the city, that is interesting. You don't take order from guests at the table where your restaurant is quite small and narrow at the counter, where staffs and guests will block the way if is more guests queuing up there. The staffs holding hot beverages and foods and have no choice but to passing behind guests at a narrow space, a dangerous risk to hit a guest or spill the food onto other guests.
Good food, but it is not enough to attract return guests if the service is down. I don't think we are asking for unreasonable service, just some basic service such as bring over the cutlery to us, collecting...
Read moreToday, I had the pleasure of dining with friends at this incredible Malaysian restaurant, and I have to say, it was an unforgettable experience. We ordered a variety of dishes, but the ones that truly stood out were the Signature Fried Chicken and the Fried Kway Teow—absolute must-tries! These two dishes alone set a new standard for Malaysian cuisine in Perth. The flavors were rich and authentic, and the portion sizes were incredibly generous compared to what you typically find elsewhere in the city. It's rare to get such a combination of taste and value at any other Malaysian restaurant in Perth.
The Fried Chicken Wings were also quite unique, with a subtle hint of shrimp flavor that added an unexpected yet delightful twist. It’s a detail that sets the dish apart and makes it memorable.
We also shared the Lobak Deluxe among five people, and we were impressed by the portion size—it was much larger than what we've experienced at other Malaysian spots. It was perfect for sharing, and the texture and flavor were just right.
For the kids, the Samosa was a big hit. The presentation was impeccable, and the taste was just as impressive. From the vibrant plating to the balance of flavors, this restaurant truly excels in delivering a dining experience that pleases the eyes and the palate. Every dish had a special touch, and whether you're a fan of bold flavors or delicate nuances, there's something for...
Read moreSiew's Kopitiam - finally made it here they’ve been around 6 months, it’s in Northbridge near Russell square. ordered 4 dishes, some dish amazing others just good. Overall rate here about a 7/10. I also factor in the rating based on the price. The service and atmosphere good - food was ok.
10/10 - Fried chicken with sauce - amazing and delicious - not that common and the flavor was superb. A must try. $26. Unfortunately I didn’t order the nyonya fish wings
7/10 - CKT - found it was ok but just felt a bit flat, found many others in Perth I would rush to over this. Such as Old Lane Street eats also in Northbridge or Jackpot or Tak Chee or Syiok Kopitiam. $17.50.
7/10 - Deluxe Lohbak- again ok but at $26 I didn’t really need or want the century egg or the deep fried fish sticks. The Lohbak - I’ve had better such as at Hey Hawker and much cheaper
7/10 - Rendang - was soft but the flavor was very standard and not that complex - my faves in Perth are Chomp Chomp - Kenneth makes best in Perth followed by James at Syiok Kopitiam. $16-18.
They do offer a 10% discount if paying by cash and bring out back their takeaway bag for takeout.
Full menu with pricing below for reference.
I think returning I will focus just on the chicken with sauce and the nyonya fish...
