We visited this restaurant on Friday 18th November for lunch. It was raining heavily and it stopped walking to the restaurant. We are looking for food after finishing church service at St Mary's Cathedral nearby.
We couldn't find a better restaurant near the Cathedral and went to restaurant for lunch. We waited few minutes to be seated down.
We ordered tandoori salmon for entree which was yumm. Not being a salmon lover I had salmon and liked it.
For mains we ordered lamb moilee and yellow lentils with spinach along with rotis and paratha. The lamb was really good along with paratha and rotis. The yellow lentils was not great.
We reached around 1.15pm and were there close to 2.30pm in the restaurant.
Kudos to the Chef did a decent job but customer service needs so much improvement.
We wanted to have more rotis with the lamb and yellow lentils but the server didn't come to our table to ask if we needed anything as the kitchen was closing.
We wanted to order more rotis and the server didn't come to our table so my husband in the middle of his meal went to place the order for more rotis to which the lady at the counter replied kitchen is closed and you won't get more rotis. The guy served us earlier and the lady was the only other server at the restaurant at that time.
They offered to give us rice which I had forcefully accept since I didn't want to waste the curries and had one paratha only earlier.
I did tell the lady that you didn't come to our table to ask if we needed anything before kitchen closing to which she said sorry.
So put off by their customer service on my birthday lunch in Perth. We were visiting for the first time this State and such customer service. Never have witnessed such customer service anywhere in Sydney. Such a experience for my birthday lunch.
Then charged for my rice too. Therefore less stars for poor customer service. The chefs in the kitchen definitely doing a good job.
Hopefully customer service improves and another person wouldn't have not to eat something they...
Read moreWalking into Balti felt like stepping into a cozy corner of India itself. The warm ambiance, with its soft lighting and beautiful decor, instantly set the mood for what would turn out to be an unforgettable dining experience. The atmosphere was buzzing yet intimate, making it the perfect place for a special night out or with old friends and the family!
The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making us feel right at home from the moment we walked in. They were knowledgeable about the menu and quick to recommend dishes based on our preferences. Their attentiveness never wavered throughout the meal, always checking in at just the right moments without being intrusive.
Now, let’s talk about the food—absolutely phenomenal! The garlic naan was hands down the best I've ever had—perfectly crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside, and loaded with just the right amount of garlic. The palak paneer was rich and flavorful, with a blend of spices that perfectly balanced the soft paneer, while the goat curry was absolutely to die for— tender, flavorful and the perfect amount of spice, all in all the food was very reminiscent of the authentic dishes I enjoyed during my travels in India many years ago.
The authenticity of the food transported me back to those memories, with each bite more delicious than the last. It’s not often that a restaurant manages to capture the true essence of Indian cuisine, but this place nailed it. The drinks menu was equally impressive, offering a great selection that paired wonderfully with the meal.
I can confidently say this is the best Indian food I've had in a long time. If only we had places like this over on the east coast—I’d be dining in every night if we did! Whether you're a longtime fan of Indian cuisine or just looking to try something new, this restaurant is an...
Read moreToday, I visited the restaurant for the second time for dinner. The food was really tasty but quite spicy. I asked the server if it was possible to reduce the spiciness in the Biryani. She checked and informed me that it wasn't possible to alter the spice level. I then requested some extra raita to help offset the spiciness, but she said it would come at an additional cost. When I learned that I would be charged extra, I decided against it, as I didn't think it was worth paying extra just for raita. I politely asked if she could provide a small amount of raita at no additional charge.
At that moment, her senior colleague, named Bhabna, intervened and instructed her to take back the raita in a rather rude manner. Nobody came over to ask me what was happening, and I found myself drinking 2-3 glasses of water to cope with the spice. Ultimately, attitudes and service are what truly matter. While money is important, it only matters to a certain extent. There are plenty of restaurants near Balti Indian Restaurant, but I chose Balti because I received good service during my previous visit. Most of the other employees are excellent at customer service, but sometimes just one person's attitude can ruin the experience.
Although it’s easy to blame the new employee for any issues, I don't think she was at fault here in this case; the problem was with her senior, Bhabna.
Happy customers tend to return to restaurants frequently, but once they have a negative experience, it can be very difficult to...
