Update 14/9 - still haven't heard from the duxton as per their response. I have also emailed them again, asking for a response. Normally I won't go to this extent. But for a five star hotel this is an absolute joke. Wrote an email to the duxton, was told I would have a reply in 24 hours. Followed up last Friday still no email reply. Please don't reply now with some sort of comment like it's best you find another establishment to dine at. APPALLING!!!! Could not be any more disappointed in this “4-5 star” rated restaurant situated in what they call “luxury.” First of all, the gentleman with the suit and beard at the front of the restaurant has no customer service and should not be placed as front of desk with this sort of demeanour. As a paying customer, this already ruins the experience first off. But that’s just the beginning… Waited 45 minutes for simple RAW oysters to be served for our entree and a total of 1 hour 10 minutes for mains to come out from placing the order. However as per our observation of the open kitchen, we could see the chef’s having the time to go on their phones behind the grill and having a casual chat to one another. We ordered the tenderloin done medium well, but received a burnt-looking exterior with completely dry and OVER-COOKED inside. It was not tender at all and such a disgrace to the cut of meat. The presentation was absolutely embarrassing as it looked like no effort was put into the plating whatsoever. Plated looking like a dump of ___ was chucked on the plate with a tiny silver filled with a tablespoon of “mushroom” sauce next to it and that was it. We also ordered the harissa chicken skewers, and to our disappointment AGAIN, the pita bread was burnt which they attempted to hide on the plate by placing it upside-down so we couldn’t see it. This was also served with a tiny silver tin containing not even a ‘tablespoon amount’ but maybe 2 TEASPOONS of the sauce and “tabouleh” which also looked unappealing and over a day old with no freshness left to it. When enquired regarding all these concerns, we were advised by the ?assistant? manager, “Jude” that the chef’s were “busy” tonight and that is the justification for the overcooked steak and burnt pita bread. Was then told that the pita was just for garnishing anyway and not meant to be actually eaten as part of the dish? Excuse me but what are we paying $59 worth for a piece of inedible 250g of premium cut steak and $48 for chicken skewers that specifically is described on the menu as ‘Pita bread, shallots, tabbouleh, charred lime’ and then told that parts of the meal are just for garnish and not designed to be eaten or worth criticising anyway (since it’s “not part of the dish” in the managers words???). The charred lime was not even on our plate.. Unbelievable standards and cannot fathom that this is located in a 5 star hotel. If I could give this experience a zero, I would. It was so disappointing as we were there for a birthday dinner and still had to negotiate a refund for the overcooked steak as we were already running behind and could not wait another 15 minutes for another piece of meat due to our schedule already being put behind having to wait over an hour for the food. “Jude” told us to mention his name next time so we’d be “looked after” but I’m sorry, shouldn’t all customers be “looked after” anyway regardless? Or is this just a technique so the truth won’t come out on these reviews about the standards this restaurant has come to in hopes others won’t be able to read about it? Beyond dissatisfied and disappointed

I went to the Saturday bottomless brunch at The Duxton Hotel with two friends, and it was an absolutely brilliant experience from start to finish. For $60 per person, the value is truly outstanding. The Food: A Delicious & Varied Spread The offering is a clever "mini buffet" combined with a chosen main course, which gives you the best of both worlds. · The Buffet: The spread was impressive. We started with a selection of fresh, high-quality pastries and breads, along with a lovely salad selection. The star of the buffet was undoubtedly the carvery station—the roast beef was perfectly cooked, tender, and delicious. There was also a comforting soup and a dessert table that offered a sweet end to the meal. · The Main Course: Alongside the buffet, each person gets to select a main dish (choice of chicken, egg benedict or mushrooms fettuccine) from the menu. This is a fantastic touch, as it adds a made-to-order, restaurant-quality element to the brunch. It really elevates the entire experience. The Drinks: Bubbly & Bold Cocktails The "bottomless" part is handled at a dedicated drink station. The options included the classic brunch cocktails: sparkling Mimosa and a well-spiced Bloody Mary. There is a waiter there to assist if you are unsure how to make it. They were both delicious!! The Service & Atmosphere The service was impeccable. The staff were incredibly attentive, friendly, and efficient, ensuring our plates were cleared and our water were never empty. The atmosphere was lively and perfect for a weekend catch-up with friends—elegant yet relaxed. Highly Recommended! This is easily one of the best bottomless brunch deals I've come across. You get a huge variety of excellent food, bottomless cocktails, and superb service for a very reasonable price. Perfect for: Girls' catch-ups, birthday celebrations, or anyone looking for a top-tier Saturday brunch. Tips: Remember, this brunch runs on Saturdays only, so be sure to plan ahead and book a table in advance as it's clearly a popular spot!

Is it worth it...

Our dining experience at Firewater Grille on 7 Sep 2024 was not a good one.

When we arrived we were greeted and served our drinks all in a pleasant and efficient manner but the good service ended there.

We were a table of six and when the next couple arrived a trainee waiter asked what food we would like to order and we indicated to the empty place settings and explained that we would prefer to wait for the remainder of our guests to arrive although we would like to order drinks. Once we placed the order it took another two requests to receive our drinks in which time, the other guests had arrived so placed their order for drinks. These also required a follow up request before being received.

Another drink order and still more follow up and then a flat beer; this was not what we expected from a fine dining restaurant.

We waited for quite some time before having to ask to place our food order which also required a follow up request.

The food was good with the usual small servings although it seemed a little expensive compared to other similar restaurants in the area.

During the evening we were served by multiple waiters and only one of them seemed to care and apologised for the poor service that we had received.

We requested the bill and two Entertainment cards were presented. We were given two bills because of the two cards which the waiter found difficult to explain how the charges added up and said they had to refer to their manager.

After they were still unable to decipher the charges we had to go to the reception desk to speak with the manager ourselves. We had been charged for the flat beer and $17 for 1 litre of premium still water which we did not request. The manager seemed tired and wasn't apologetic, he simply took the payment and that was it.

2 stars for atmosphere as there was an event in a totally separate function room of the hotel but we could clearly hear the loud music and since the restaurant doesn't have it's own toilets they were shared with some very loud and intoxicated event guests which was unpleasant.

With so many excellent restaurants in Perth is it really worth going to a...
