Whilst ur 'pump up' tunes are cranking in the uber and you approach the james street exit off the mitchell freeway you begin to feel this warm feeling, as if something amazing is about to happen. You pull up at the end of the laneway on francis st and begin to strut towards the club, both doors are always open, such a welcoming invite. As you begin your decent of the stairs you start to here the sounds of music legends who have shaped the music industry into what it is today; rolling stones, beatles, the who, dire straights, michael jackson, Oasis, the stone roses, bon jovi, david bowie. Be assured this aint no '305 Mr Worlwide' kinda place. When u get to the bottom of those stairs and can now hear the pinging of the pinball machines on your right, u look over at a dancefloor which you know has had some fierce shapes cut apon it. You stop for a moment, appreciate where you are and what ur about to experience, you look up and ritually tap the poster above the door frame with ur right hand........i can't tell u exactly what happens when ur inside but i can tell you this, when you leave you feel like you have just spent many hours experiencing a euphoric orgasm. You are satisfied with life. Thats usually enough to tie one over until wednesday, thursday.....and when Friday hits again you find urself listening to the Joes playlist on spotify, ur foot tapping and an urge to let your feet burn up the dance floor. You will tell urself all week "im having a quite one" but joes will suck you in.....it always does. And before u know it your at Joes again.......u cN never escape the clutches of joes, nor do u...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGreat menu and very good deals on drinks. The atmosphere is sick and the bar staff are very nice. Itās unfortunate that their security staff are so rude⦠They asked to check my bag and noticed I had 2 water bottles in my bag and asked me to take them out, which is understandable as itās a standard for most venues. They told me that I can leave it next to the door, which I did, but I made a comment about how frequent roofying happens in northbridge and how I donāt want it to happen to my drink. They said that nobody would roofie me, and since it was my friends birthday and didnāt want to make a scene, I left it there and went into the venue. On my way out, I picked up the bottles and as I did, one of the security guards yelled āhope you donāt get roofiedā, and the other security guards started laughing. As a young female who has been roofied in northbridge before, as well as having the same happen to my friends, itās quite irresponsible to make a joke about something as serious as roofying, especially when it is the job of security to keep the venue and itās patrons safe. As much as Iād love to return as Iāve always had positive experiences here, I think Iāll be sticking to venues that actually treat such a serious issue in a more...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOne of Perth's only destinations with a true sense of character,. Very varied selection of alcohols, (especially gins - even Sloe Gin is on the menu and very affordable), along with talented,, friendly and approachable bar/security staff.
But its the atmosphere and the music that propels this venue to must go location. First of all, watching a DJ actually pick through a record case and mix wax is fantastic, but its the variedness of the music that really sets Joe's apart,
No other venue will you hear ACDC, Guns and Roses, songs from Rocky Horror and Grease, Rage Against the Machine, System Of a Down, The Village People and Pearl Jam played within the same set, (or even in the same night for that matter). This sounds like it would be a jumbled, incohesive mess but its not - it works amazingly well and is helped along by the stylings and atmosphere created in the actual building. (You even find yourself genuinely enjoying songs you may normally not like because of the skillful song/mood switches and the atmosphere/vibes the venue, staff and patrons cultivate).
10/10 easily my favourite venue in Northbridge and I cant wait to...
