Nice location if you get seated by the window overlooking the river, but we didn't get to even though tables were empty and we prebooked for sunset midweek. Service was friendly, but not even a passing 'Everything OK?' after food was served. So we couldn't get anything rectified. It wasn't busy. Kitchen was very efficient - food came out fast, a minute after drinks arrived. First look, wow. After tasting, meh. Verdict: Food looks impressive but taste-wise, Average - I think people buy into how it looks, rather than taste. The outstanding dish was Popcorn chicken which was perfectly seasoned and fried, juicy & tender ($13). Smashed patties weren't that tasty, sauces ambivalent - couldn't decide if we liked it, and patties seemed over-fried, not juicy. My overseas visitors felt they weren't able to savour the beef. (He preferred HJ's double Angus patty instead 😂) loaded chips were warm, not hot. When cooled it congeals into an unappetizing mass. The seasonings underwhelming. Even my kids didn't devour chips like they usually do. Mac n bacon croquettes aren't that tasty, couldn't taste bacon, perfectly fried though. Bubble O Bill was a technicolour mess. Blue colouring everywhere - it was melting on a winter's evening and the Gumball made for a blue foam avalanche a few seconds after it got to the table. Taste was good but never ordering it again due to 3 napkins worth of mess. non-boozy Thickshakes 👎 Artificial tasting syrup (both strawberry & choc). Fresh milk but flavours not there. Back to thickshakes at McD/HJ's choc sundae. Disappointing at $9 each. Was supposed to be a birthday celebration for my boy with Uncle & Auntie from overseas, but I think we will redo his milestone birthday treat elsewhere.
We tried Cheats Platter, Kevin Bacon, Lil Weezy (best of the lot), some other chicken burger (yeah, it was that memorable 🥱), 2 types of loaded chips.
3 attempts to book into Milky Lane and finally succeeding on the 4th try midweek, 2 weeks in advance, so expectations were high, and after $100 on 2 adults, 2 kidlets, left doubting Perth people's tastebuds based on the number of good reviews. The only thing I would return for is to give some other dessert cocktail a try ($19) and the PopKorn chicken, if I happen to be along the riverfront.
Parking is at CPP Terrace Rd (free after 6pm). Nice walk to Elizabeth Quay train station if you drank too many rich...
Read moreWent Sunday lunch time first weekend open It was busy but turned through customers quickly. They were telling some customers there was a slight wait but upon going inside looked like there was still plenty of available tables?! It’s a lovely location - overlooking the river We were seated outside in the front part, although a cool day, it was nice as there are overhead heaters. It is table service, so a staff member will come and take your orders. Quick service for food - again for being quite busy we had our food within half an hour. Drinks arrived first: Bubblegum sour - told is Their most popular at the moment. Was nice, but not really a bubblegum taste, but a nice sours taste. Highlight was the warm toasted marshmallow. Loaded shakes: had to pick different flavors as they were already out of Biscoff (less than a week trading!) Shakes were nice though. Thick. Would be nice if you also got a spoon. Sides arrived next (around 15 mins) Loaded gems were nice with chorizo and ‘cheese curds’ (pretty sure it was just halloumi?) Loaded fries were also nice Burgers arrived (around 25 mins) Triple cheese and onion - was very nice. Very basic concept but well done. Buns were a bit greasy upon arrival Kevin bacon - was nice too. A big mouthful! Menu states diced onion and caramelised onion, but only got diced raw onion, no caramalised onion at all. Which we’re not overly fans of raw onion in burgers. Only criticism Would happily come back, menu looks very nice, and plenty of selections, something for everyone to try! Pop-korn chicken looked nice! Was a nice vibe, atmosphere and venue. Staff were friendly, and helpful. There is a surcharge for Sundays and public holidays, which we incurred. While they can ‘split’ the bill for payment. It’s only in half or thirds etc. they do not do itemized splitting of the bills. Located just off Barrack square (down the access road) at the bottom of the Double Tree Hilton Front steps to main entrance but is also wheel chair accessible with a side ramp entrance too. Toilets to the rear of...
Read moreDO NOT EAT HERE IF YOU HAVE ALLERGIES!
I attended the restaurant at Elizabeth quay and when the waitress took my order I disclosed I was anaphylactic to peanuts and asked if the burger I wanted to order would be safe to eat. She checked the ingredients and said it did not contain nuts however I asked for her to put a note on the system as a reminder to kitchen staff. After waiting some time for food, our sides arrived, I began eating my fries and around 5mins later a different waiter came to the table to ask if cross contamination had been discussed when placing my order, which it had not. She stated nuts are used in the kitchen and everything is fried in the same oil. I had already eaten half of my basket of fries and said this would be ok as a “may contain” is common in Australia. A few moments later all of our burgers were presented to the table where again another member of staff stated that the burger “may have cross contamination as the batter used for the burgers contains nuts”. When asked which nuts the batter contains she stated it contained all nuts including peanuts. I then highlighted to her that this is therefor not cross contamination if peanuts is an ingredient in the burger and I can not eat it. She took my burger away and she did then get me a chicken burger with no batter as promptly as she could however it arrived after the rest of my party had finished there meals and I had already finished my side and drink. I don’t feel like this situation was taken serious enough by staff and I don’t feel like I got a substantial apology for the mistake or delay. This experience has really dampened my perspective of milky lane which I have previously spoken very highly about. I emailed the company directly in the hopes that my feedback would highlight the importance and need for staff having adequate training in the seriousness of allergies and how to control and manage these situations in the future. However after 10 days I have yet to...
