I was denied entry to the Lucky Shag, though according to the dress code policy on the outside of their bar I was not breaking the dress code. According to the on duty security guard (a young Asian women - not very friendly by the way, and possibly racist as well), I was denied entry because I had shorts that did not adhere to the dress code, though I am not sure because the lady at the door would not tell me exactly what aspect of my shorts that she was denying me entry over.
I am especially disgusted with being denied entry because I attempted to call the restaurant multiple times throughout the day and not once did the Lucky Shag ever answer or return my calls. I also checked the Lucky Shag website for the dress code policy. However, on the Lucky Shag website there is no mention of a dress code policy anywhere on the website. As I walked up to the bar I read the dress code that is written on wall, which mentions "no work boots, no sitewear, footwear to be worn at all times" but nowhere on the board does the Lucky Shag dress code policy mention shorts in the dress code policy. The dress code further states that the management has the right to refuse entry, however I was denied access to speak with the management at the Lucky Shag and have sent several emails and called the business since the incident occurred and I have not heard back from the management yet.
Following the denial of my entry into the Lucky Shag a gentleman with no shoes on was allowed entry right after me. I have multiple witnesses that can corroborate that fact. This is a clear violation of the rules that have been written on the Lucky Shags' "dress code" policy, which leads me to believe that this may have been an racism incident, as all the people that were allowed entry following me were all Caucasian.
I really am disappointed with the superficiality with which the Lucky Shag is run and do not believe it is right for them to get away with treating people in such a manner. This kind of behavior is absolutely appalling and should not be tolerated on any level.

Read moreI will never go back to the Lucky Shag again, terrible customer service!! I took my parents to the Lucky Shag who were visiting from the UK. I thought it would give great views of the river and city whilst in a relaxed atmosphere. My folks love walking so we parked up in south Perth and walked from there with my dogs to the lucky shag (intention being to walk bridge to bridge and have a cheeky pint at the Lucky Shag). When we got there we sat on a bench just outside the pub garden while my wife went to change our baby and Dad went to get our drinks. Annoyingly the baby changer was broken so we had to change our 5 week old in her pram. My father returned with our drink and no sooner had we all had a sip the manger TOLD us (Very arrogantly) to move into the garden ASAP as we weren't allowed to drink outside the pub garden perimeter and that the dogs were also not allowed in the garden either (Despite there being numerous dirty pigeons all over the tables and floor he said they were a health and hygiene issue!?). We complied to the managers requests and left our dogs on the other side of the glass barrier whilst still holding onto their leads. The manager then approached us again saying that as we were holding onto the leads the dogs were classed as being on the deck of the pub (How ridiculous). I requested the manager to show some discretion and that we'd leave as soon as we'd finished our drinks. The Manager had no inclination to be flexible or show common sense, and said I was being a "prick" for protesting his requests. I found the managers attitude and domineer very arrogant and belittling. I will never go back to this pub, and nor will I ever recommend it. It goes to show that a little customer service and discretion goes a hell...
Read moreReally awesome venue, great beers and food. Shame about the works going on though. Ordered food and drinks then sat down to hear an insane jackhammer or drilling from the kitchen with the renovations going on. It was actually so loud that we couldn’t hear each other speak. We were looking around at the other guests and everyone was surprised, a lot of people were complaining and leaving their food and drinks to exit the venue. We finished our meals and drink and I went up to one of the bar staff and asked if they were notifying people of these works going on. The person who appeared to be the manager of the shift (he wore a blue shirts and had glasses on) was really rude and said there were signs all over the restaurant and notifications online and on the website. Quite sarcastically leaving me feeling terrible. We left without saying anything further. We saw no signs, looked online, on the website and Instagram/ Facebook and the only mention of works is that people should be”excited for the renovations”. I used to manage a restaurant/bar very similar. If this was happening, I would be notifying everyone on our socials, website etc, and actually having signs up at the front of the venue, or offering discounts for the heinous noises occurring before expecting people to sit down and pay full price for items when the venue is not able to offer what it should. As I said, awesome venue and great menus etc but this was super disappointing. I think the person I spoke to should learn what it means to value your customers and not be rude to them when they ask a simple question about what’s going on after paying $14 for a...
