After a drink we in the cocktail lounge (which was pleasantly olde worlde), we asked if we could book into the bistro for a meal. We were told it was really busy, but they could squeeze us in at 8.45. Our lovely cocktail barman organised it, and even guided us to the room. When we arrived there were only a handful of people still there. Our waiter was rude. He began by saying, "You guys are determined to keep us working late tonight" and his rude, brusque comments continued, as he reminded us they were closing at 9.30. When I tried to order a glass of wine, he said he could only deal with the food, and would come back later. Fifteeen minutes later and there was no sign of him, though he continued to fold nakpins. When another waiter approached with glasses of water, we complained about the earlier guys behaviour, asked that she look after us instead. And from then, it was all very pleasant. Later the supervisor apologised again, as we enjoyed a few drinks in the nearby bar. Upstairs, there was an RSVP with a crowd that was 40s, 50s in age group. I suspect the last time the place was renovated was when they were in their 20s, 30s. The bottom line: this could have been a really bad experience based on the rude behaviour of one staff members. The lesson is, you've really got to challenge rude behaviour, and if you do, things can dramatically...
Read moreChristmas lunch with friends was made disappointed as background music was far too loud - four friends forced to lean over the table to hear each other. Why are the mains laid on top of the chips? Looks like the chef is trying to hide something. Unable to cut the chicken schnitzel till I moved it off the chips. They had no crunch & looked pale - some were still cold - frozen chips used and not cooked long enough. Sadly unable to enjoy the meal. Very mediocre. Being a Saturday lunch maybe the head chef isn’t present . Dessert menu almost non existent - dropped into QVB for an indulgent sweet. Would I go again? Not for a meal but yes for a meeting...
Read moreMembership is a little on the pricey side for a local club, but they have a proud history and I have to say it's a worthwhile investment for me. The cub patrons can enjoy multiple bars (including the newly renovated lower bar) a few different dining options, a big pokie room, TAB, gym (for an additional fee), and they also have some discounts for their ski lodge and I think there is a hair dresser and barber. It seems like the management are making a serious effort to put some good events on for the members which is nice. If you are in town a lot it's worth joining up.. otherwise just sign in as a guest and have a look around. Hopefully I...
