I recently encountered a deeply frustrating experience at one of Sydney’s busiest train station. Upon arrival on Monday, 21st April, I discovered that lift to platform 3 from concourse were not operational. As a parent with a pram, I was left with no choice but to physically carry it upwards multiple flights of stairs to reach the platform. This not only posed a safety risk but also highlighted a significant oversight in accommodating passengers with mobility needs.
What exacerbated the situation was the complete absence of customer service support. There were no staff members available to assist or even provide information about the lift outages. In a station that sees such high foot traffic, it’s unacceptable to have no contingency plans or support systems in place for situations like this.
Sydney train station promotes itself as a fully accessible transport system, boasting features like lifts at all stations and level access between platforms and trains . However, this experience starkly contrasts with those claims. Moreover, reports have highlighted that several stations across Sydney face significant accessibility challenges, with issues like uneven paths and non-functional lifts .
It’s imperative that Sydney train addresses these shortcomings promptly. Ensuring that all passengers, regardless of their mobility needs, can travel safely and comfortably should be a top priority. I hope that steps are taken to rectify these issues and prevent similar incidents in...
Read moreTown Hall Station is a major hub in the heart of the city, and my experiences here have generally been positive. The station is well-connected, making it easy to travel to various parts of the city efficiently.
The station is usually clean and well-maintained, with clear signage that helps navigate the multiple levels and platforms. The staff at Town Hall Station are helpful and approachable, always ready to assist with directions or any issues.
One aspect that stands out is the convenience of amenities. There are plenty of shops and cafes within the station, which is great for grabbing a quick bite or coffee on the go. The recent upgrades to the station have also improved accessibility, making it easier for people with disabilities to navigate.
However, during peak hours, the station can become quite crowded, and finding a spot on the train can be challenging. Despite this, the frequency of trains helps mitigate long waits.
Overall, Town Hall Station is a crucial part of the city’s transport network, providing reliable and convenient services for daily commuters and...
Read moreI ❤️ Town Hall station. It’s like a partitioned shoebox lying on its side 2m underground. Peaceful, serene even in the late evening. Chaotic noisy and colourful streams of earbuds with people attached all loved up in State govt deep green and cream yellow.

All the while above ground, Christian fundamentalists and lonely buskers blast their creed to the suspecting passers clutching their fresh packet of chips and take-in dinners-for-one newly bought at the garishly lit corner Woolies. Life as...
