Review is for the new ashfield store which doesn't have its own listing yet. Went on opening day, was a bit all over the place, pho soup was only luke warm, which could be forgiven, as the staff are quite friendly. But Assuming it was the owner lady in white, wasn't very apologetic or helpful when I pointed out there was a piece of plastic in the banh mi I was eating. Just gave me a look and asked me if I found it in the banh mi, I was standing right next to her waiting for my takeaway as if I was making it up or something. Anyway she just blamed it on being opening day, and maybe the plastic packaging. Still, if it wasn't me eating it and my child was she would have choked. Apology was definitely expected and not acknowledged here. Onto the banh mi itself. It was average, for the price was a bit light in filling and very Fatty pieces. The pho was OK in sizing, and eat in was fine albeit it being lukewarm. Given there is a opening special for 20% off we also ordered one takeaway. But sadly for the takeaway version the rare beef became super cooked beef instead. The outdoor seating was nice, and if there wasn't so many mishaps probably would have visited again. But for now will...
Read moreSeen their self advertisements as "the worlds best banh mi" doubtful as I was it for being the best in the world I still had expectations for it to be good. I wanted to try their traditional banh mi as a real test for their standard of bread roll but after reading all the reviews here I gave the crispy roast pork a go. First off, the bread roll itself was not fresh it was just one level from being stale, perhaps because I came when the store was less busy ? The overall experience was lacking. The pork crackling did remain crispy in my roll but the pork itself was rather dry and flavourless. I could barely taste the patte or Mayo. The banh mi itself was somehow both soggy from the vegetables and dry from the pork with maybe 1 bite out of 5 being an okay bite with good texture and flavour. Safe to say I was disappointed, been looking for a decent banh mi since moving to Parramatta but having Cabramatta bread rolls being my standard this doesn't even...
Read moreThis is probably one of the best bahn mis I've had in Sydney. The bread, which I strongly believe is the most important part of the bahn mi, is made fresh in store and served warm. Its flaky yet still nice and soft. The filling, especially the protein, is very generous and very well balanced.
The best part however is the service - I don't eat pork and I normally check if the pate is has pork in it but I forgot on this occasion. About a third of the way through the roll, I notice the pate and ask if it contains pork which it did. Even though it was completely my fault, she offered to make me another one at no charge. I told her it wasn't necessary as it was my fault but she was really insistent so I accepted.
The cherry on top is that the rolls are only $10. I don't know of any other place you can get such a filling meal...
