Here is a long review with no em or en dashes:

⸻

Mikazuki in Haymarket is one of those spots that you walk past many times, and then once you finally try it, you wonder why you did not go in earlier. The restaurant offers a modern Japanese dining experience with a focus on fresh ingredients, clean presentation, and a warm atmosphere that makes the meal feel comfortable and enjoyable.

The food is the main highlight here. Dishes come out looking vibrant and well plated, and you can genuinely taste the freshness in the seafood and vegetables. The salmon sashimi is soft and silky, and the sushi rolls are crafted with care rather than being rushed or packed loosely. The ramen broth has depth and flavour without being overly salty, and the noodles have a nice firm bite. Even something simple like the chicken karaage has a crisp exterior and tender meat inside.

The service is friendly and attentive. Staff are quick to greet you when you arrive, menus are handed over without delay, and the team checks in often enough to make sure you are enjoying your meal without hovering. Water refills come without needing to ask and dishes arrive at a steady pace. You feel looked after without feeling pressured to leave quickly.

Now, regarding price, it is true that Mikazuki leans on the higher side. It is not the cheapest Japanese restaurant in the city. However, considering that it is located in Haymarket in the heart of Sydney, the pricing is fairly standard for the area. The quality of ingredients and the care in preparation does justify the cost. If someone is after the cheapest meal possible, then it may not be the best choice, but if you value freshness and a good dining atmosphere, the price matches what you are getting.

The interior of the restaurant has a clean and modern design. It is relaxed enough for casual outings but still polished enough for a nice dinner with friends, a date, or even a lunch break that feels a bit more special. The seating is comfortable, the lighting is pleasant, and the place remains fairly lively without being too noisy.

Overall, Mikazuki Haymarket delivers well in flavour, freshness, and service. It is a restaurant that feels reliable every time you go back. Yes, it costs a little more, but in Sydney, that is expected for quality Japanese food. If you enjoy well prepared dishes and friendly service in the centre of the city, it is definitely...

TL;DR Food is awesome, gluten free menu available, but not all staff understand GF protocols. GF and coeliac people, eat with caution

We went to this restaurant several times during our trip in Sydney. Being gluten intolerant myself, I have to be extremely cautious with my food, making sure there’s no gluten at all or I’ll suffer from being glutened (which means I have to act a bit of a Karen sometimes unfortunately)

The taste is really nice and there’s a lot of gluten free items on the menu, including rice bowls, sushi, sashimi and salads. Most experiences at the mikazuki is uneventful. My family and I enjoyed the meal. My parents like the ramen and the curry rice and I like the gluten free rice bowls and the chirashi salad. However there’s one particular night (25/10) instead of getting the regular gluten free chirashi salad (it’s normally served without the teriyaki sauce and the tempura flakes), I got the regular version of it. I politely asked the waitress if she can confirm if the salad is gluten free. She confirmed with the chef and replied to me saying it’s gluten free. I tried to explain that I don’t think the dish is safe for me to have, and told them to make me a second bowl gluten free. However, there’s still tempura flakes on the second salad. I persisted and told the waitress to tell the chef to make me a third salad without the tempura flakes. Fortunately the one we had hasn’t got any tempura flakes.

I really enjoyed my food there and it’s one of the few places in Sydney where you can have authentic gluten free Japanese food in a budget when you’re cautious enough. I hope to visit again without having me to act like I’m a Karen

(P.S. I’ll apologise, correct the review, and make it five stars if the tempura flakes are apparently...

Thanks for your ChatGPT response, like all your other responses. It’s very, very obvious.

Overall the experience was disappointing. Apart from the spicy sashimi tacos which were fresh and a good start. Won’t be back here again. Ordered the following:

1x Tonkotsu spicy miso - so many noodles, with 1 piece of pork and half an egg. Broth was salty and didn’t taste anything like a miso ramen should taste. So salty and barely spicy.

1x Tonkotsu miso - again, majority of the bowl was noodles, 1 small piece of pork, and half an egg. The broth was so salty it was borderline inedible. Left pretty much the whole bowl. Tried to have more than 2 spoons of the broth but I just couldn’t drink it at all. Never again, this isn’t a miso.

1x spicy sashimi tacos, fresh and it started really well but went downhill from there.

Surprised at all the 5 star reviews especially about the ramen. I was recently in Japan, twice this year so far and this had to have been the worst ramen I’ve had in some time and in Sydney too. Most other restaurants give you 2 pieces of the pork atleast and have an edible broth. Only gave an additional star because of the taco.

Also the music playing was punk rock and quite loud. Didn’t suit the restaurant. Was expecting it to have a...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Mikazuki Japanese restaurant in Haymarket, Sydney, and it was an exceptional experience. The Teriyaki salmon was an absolute delight – perfectly cooked, tender, and bursting with rich, savory flavors. Every bite was scrumptious and left me wanting more. To top off the meal, I indulged in their vanilla mocha dessert, which was a perfect blend of creamy and sweet, with a subtle coffee undertone that made it irresistibly delicious. The ambiance of Mikazuki is warm and inviting, providing a cozy setting that complements the exquisite food. The staff were attentive and friendly, ensuring a pleasant dining experience from start to finish. It's clear that great care is taken in both the preparation of the dishes and the overall customer service. For anyone seeking authentic Japanese cuisine in Sydney, Mikazuki is a must-visit. I wholeheartedly give it 5/5 stars!
