Tasty food, but didn’t get quite what I wanted. I was craving a cheeseburger with tangy pickle and this new diner looked interesting, so I ordered the deluxe cheeseburger instead of the regular, which is $1 more. When my order came they forgot my drink, so I had to go back and wait to request it. When I started eating my burger, it didn’t have the pickles that were the part I really wanted. It was a perfectly fine burger, but more bland than I was expecting. The guy giving out orders wasn’t too friendly when I’d returned for my drink, he turned around to yell at the people taking orders and getting the drinks without saying anything to me. I wasn’t in the mood to go back a second time to get my order corrected. I figured they had probably run out of pickles. They have a glass wall looking in go the prep area, and on my way out I saw there was a bin full. I could’ve saved a dollar ordering the normal cheeseburger instead.
Most of the inside tables are set up as groups of four, two seats in one side and a booth on the other, so most were taken up by single people, with groups waiting for tables to be free. Some tables for two would be good. The ice looks like packing peanuts.
The chips are ultra slim cut crispy fries, and they are excellent if you are into shoestring fries, which I am. They look like they’re freshly cut in store.
It would be nice if the menu gave an indication of what the special sauces are - I tried drive in sauce and Slim’s Spread, tasty but no idea what they were meant to be. It was fine, but I could spend $10 less for a cheeseburger, chips, and a coke at Maccas where they will probably forget part of my meal as well but will at least say sorry when I ask...
Read morehorrible place to work, cliquey management with zero empathy for workers and faux empathy for their customers.
in regards to the food, overpriced considering how small the burger pattie’s are. (a cheeseburger patty is 50grams) THIS RESTAURANT WILL NOT CONSIDER YOUR HALAL REQUEST IMPORTANT - They pre close the grill about 30 minutes before official restaurant close. I was made to send out numerous ‘halal’ labeled orders after seeing the patty prepared on the same hot plate as we cook our bacon. the director of food and upper management relabel and continue to serve OUT OF DATE sauces - they fired the assistant restaurant manager for complaining about this. The buns they serve are oftentimes best before the date / out of date (have had numerous mouldy burgers sent back by customers)
the general cleanliness of the restaurant is kept to an entirely superficial standard; the water reservoir of the char grill has been clogged with food debris for greater than a week, and so isn’t able to drain leaving food, both raw and cooked floating in the tank below. The restaurant still sells grilled chicken sandwiches as if it weren’t an issue. The thickshake machines aren’t cleaned adequately nor frequently enough and so the shake often sours and chunks of mixture that have caked to the inside of the machine flake into the drink.
These are not issues relating to the general casual employee base by any means. the failure of slims to provide much quality lies entirely on the ego of its upper management and the low staff retention that’s driven, leaving them with a barely trained and terrified employee base.

Read morewhenever anyone says "burger joint" this is the place that comes to mind. i just had the bacon loaded works combo and it is well worth the $23! i'm not typically someone who likes bacon on burgers as it tends to make the experience overly meaty for lack of a better word. the bacon works burger that is served here however is an absolute delight. the beef is still there star of the show but every now and then you get that hit of bacon flavour. it's like poetry. the loaded fries are fantastic too. i ended up unable to finish mine due to the overwhelming amount of sauce however i won't deduct a star seeing as this is a matter of personal taste and the sauce is great anyway. my favourite part of the meal was the strawberry thickshake which i am sipping on as i wright this review. it's called a thickshake for good reason! it's velvety smooth and beautifully sweet like the face of your celebrity crush. incredibly soothing after the the heavily loaded fries. brought right back to my childhood! as far as atmosphere goes it's got a cosy local dinner feeling to it. they also played "kids" by mgmt while i was here which happens to be one of my favourite songs so that added to my overall enjoyment. if i had to sum up the experience I'd compare it to waking up unexpectedly at 5am and, unable to fall asleep again, watching the sunrise. it's not for everyone but i am a fan! the place isn't perfect (nothing is) but it's pretty dang close. i apologize for my theatrics. TLDR: good food, good atmosphere,...
