I came here because of the star rating but I was so disappointed and after seeing some other reviews, I'm shocked!
We ordered Pork Cheek noodle and satay beef noodle soup. We got honey pomelo drink and HK tea and coffee mix. We also got the cheung fen with fish ball and siu mai on the side.
First of, this entire order cost us $60 which is far more than other Cha Chaan Tengs in Sydney. Really quite expensive for a food court establishment.
With a price that high, we were expecting big portions like we get at other Cha Chaan Tengs in other parts of Sydney (which ALSO COST MUCH LESS!!!!)
The portions are honestly very small. I can see other reviewers recently have said the same thing.
The scallion oil wasn't the best, just ok. We were sad about this as we make better scallion oil at home. Pork cheek was great though.
My satay beef noodle soup had undercooked noodles. I can see others have also had this same experience.
The rice noodle roll's siu mai was gross, it tasted really cheap and we expected better for the price we paid for this dish. The sauce was OK, not the best sesame flavour we've had.
The HK tea and coffee mix was ok, definitely not one of the better ones you can get in Sydney (seriously, try Sun Ming or Canton Noodle House in Hurstville for a mad HK mix tea + coffee).
The honey pomelo drink was good.
Unfortunately I have to leave a bad review because if you want to charge people $30pp for a main + drink + shared side in a food court at a Cha Chaan Teng, you really...
Read moreA hidden gem on Level 2 of Mandarin Centre! Tea Square (茶仔) is a heartwarming Hong Kong-style street food spot run by a lovely daughter-mother duo—turns out the owner is also a jazz vocalist! 💫 What a cool surprise.
Their freshly blended papaya milk tastes so natural and comforting. The iced lemon tea is hands-down one of the best I've ever had—perfect balance of sweet and tart. I also loved the taro-filled pineapple bun: crispy outside, buttery and smooth inside. Classic fish balls, siu mai, and tossed noodles hit the spot too. They even offer Taiwanese snacks and hand-pulled milk tea, which I’ll definitely try next time.
🗺️ Note: Google Maps might list the location as "Ground Floor"—but Tea Square is actually on Level 2. From the ground (Daiso level), go up two flights. Pass TK Maxx on Level 1, and you'll find the food court on the second. Tea Square is tucked away in the back, with a nostalgic street-style vibe and great energy. Highly recommend...
Read moreIf you want to be respected, do not visit this place. Worst customer service ever. I asked a question about the menu and the guy at the cashier not only replied with an attitude, but did not even answer my question. Hence I had to ask him again because he didn't answer my question and he got frustrated.
In terms of food, it's average. The menu is perhaps too big and not every item is done right. For example, I ordered the sticky rice roll and it's pretty much just rice and the whole roll fell apart.
Value for money: price point is probably similar to those HK cafes in Chatswood/Eastwood/Burwood/CBD but the portion is much smaller and it's just in...
