[Food Safety Alert 🚨 ] I saw Instagramers recommending the Hainanese chicken rice so I went, the taste is not bad, portion is good, food was quick, they ran out of thigh, the breast was a bit overcooked and hard to chew but overall I didn’t have high expectation given it’s a food court restaurant, I would’ve given it a 4 star in all category. UNTIL I was close to the end of my soup and discovered there’s a BIG insect at the bottom of the soup, I instantly felt disgusted 🤮 and wanted to vomit. I took my food to the counter and they instantly took the soup and chucked it out, didn’t apologise and asked me “what do you want”? The least you can do right now is to genuinely apologise, and they failed to do that. I asked for a refund and they did, and then they just went on to serve other customers without any further words or any sign of feeling sorry. I understand it’s not easy running a restaurant so I didn’t want to create any scene that may impact their business, but it’s really concerning that they continue serving customers with the same soup they gave me, which has this insect in it and didn’t even apologise at all.

Decent food court outlet with so many choices. The Hainanese Chicken Rice is ok with silky poached chicken at $17 though I wouldn’t travel out of the way for it. The chicken laksa, despite having two types of noodles, is average and the broth seems bland. They were generous with shredded chicken but it was on the dry side. There’s always a lunch crowd around this joint so you can’t miss it. They are efficient so don’t be put off by the queue. Parking downstairs at Mandarin Centre can be a gridlock however especially on weekends. You may be better off parking at Council or Westfield’s and walking over.

Always busy and always consistent. Have been coming here for years. There are 3 go to dishes here: 1. Salmon Head Vermicelli - by far the standout dish where the salmon is always fresh and super crispy. The fish soup is perfect with tomatoes and pickled cabbage, cooked with the correct technique if you know how this is made. Very authentic and worth the extravagant price of $21. Probably would not pay more if they ever increase their price. 1. Hainan Chicken rice although it is a bit overpriced now for the serving size. 2. Seafood Laksa - always consistent with the condiments and creamy curry stock.

The worst restaurant I have ever been to! Never ever go there agiain Very poor customer service. I was heavily insulted in the public by the older women with glasses served in the front of the house. I will never ever go back and I will tell my friends and colleagues not to go there. Ordered a salmon fried rice priced at $9.8. They had a free sweet and chilli sauce served in teaspoon in the front. I went to get the sauce for three time, one teaspoon per time and then I was told off by the old woman with glasses. She said"I have been watching you, it was your third time you have had this sauce. STOP TAKING IT"....Oh my goodness...It is served by teaspoon not tablespoon. I have been watched....just because I took the sauce for 3 times lol......What a Joke..Even the salmon fried rice itself does not cost too much. The salmon is from a can! A big bottle of Sweet and chilli sauce only costs 3 dollar from Coles. I am paying for the dishes !!! The thai Jasmin rice only cost 40 aud if bulk purchased from Thailand. The rent is cheap as it is located in Mandarin center....

As a Chatswood resident, East West Gourmet used to be my favourite in the last few years. But today's experience is changing my mind. Ordered an eggplant meal today. The lady at the reception is obviously not in good mood. First, she has an argument with another client, only because the client was requesting a free chilli sauce. Then, she ignored my meal for 15 mins which were ready to serve. Please don't ask me why I know you did it on purpose. I am not stupid. Just want to ask this lady, are you one of the owner or you are just working here. If you are the owner, you are trying to kill your business. If you are just working here, you are trying to sabotage your boss's business. Good luck with that. Although another lady is quite nice, she was also working in...
