Terrible service, with an element of racial profiling.

We were sat in the corner of the restaurant and the waiter for our section was an older bald man with glasses. He came by asking if we were ready to order but we asked for a couple more minutes as we hadn't yet decided. He then rolled his eyes while walking away.

We tried to get his attention when we were ready and made eye contact with him a few times: he served other tables in the meantime and gave us no indication he would be coming to us at any point.

When we placed our order, he asked with some attitude "is that all?" - our order was a bit small given it was 4pm and therefore between meals. Once we confirmed that it was all, he said nothing and just walked away and we were left a bit stunned.

When serving our dishes, he just put them on the table and walked away, no conversation. Could have understood if he was busy, but half the restaurant was empty at this point.

The food itself was okay. The pork medallions were a bit dry and salty, while the nockerl tasted overwhelmingly of egg white and not much else. The topfenstrudel was quite nice though; the chicken schnitzel was unremarkable.

Getting the waiter's attention to pay the bill was also difficult. We even stood up from our table to get his attention and still nothing! Kept serving other tables. Took another 10 minutes or so until he came over. Even when paying, he turned to chat happily with his colleagues and the (Western) customers at the neighbouring table and completely ignored us while we were completing the transaction. At the end when the receipt printed he just shoved it into my hands and walked away without saying anything.

This was unfortunately a very disappointing end to our stay in Salzburg. Guess it pays to look Western or speak German to get service from this waiter that...

We visited here 3 time over a 4 day period during the Christmas period. The first time was a very pleasant experience with a great waiter called Carlos. We had drinks and desserts, and they were all great. The desserts were Warm Chocolate Cake with chocolate sauce and cream and also Apple Strudel with Vanilla Cream. I had the strudel and compared to the previous one I had in Germany it was great and very tasty. Prices for Salzburg were very reasonable. Service was fast and friendly. 5 out of 5.

The second time we visited we only had drinks and Carlos was our waiter again however he was run off his feet and it showed as he was not as friendly as before. Drinks were still up to scratch. 4 out of 5.

The final time we visited was on the 27th Dec and the place was very busy. We had to sit in the far back room but the service was still OK but you could tell they very busy and probably exhausted by this stage (about 3:30 in the afternoon). My wife had the Sacher Torte (which she had on her bucket list) and was disappointed as it was not as nice as she was expecting and I had the Cheese Strudel which I found rather bland (maybe that is the way it is supposed to be!). Drinks were fine. 4 out of 5.

So overall it is a very nice café with generally good service and reasonably price especially for Salzburg and well worth a visit.

4/5 as...

The name is attractive and gives off a vibe that Mozart has something to do with it. When you're in Salzburg, you want to experience everything related to him.

The place is huge compared to other cafes in the city. With people scattered here and there, it doesn’t feel like a social place anymore—it’s more like you’re alone drinking coffee.

The decoration and furniture are a bit old, and since the cafe is inside a building, you can’t sit outside in the alleys and enjoy the city vibes like most other cafes.

We ordered a Cafe Latte and Apfel Strudel. However, in Austria, you often get a Latte Macchiato when you order a Cafe Latte. Manual steaming of milk isn’t very popular here, so you’ll usually get your cup from a machine that froths the milk instead. The Apfel Strudel wasn’t my thing, and the ice cream that came with it wasn’t the best either.

That said, I have to highlight how great the lady who served us was. She was particularly nice. We had a couple of questions about the city, and she answered them with pleasure. She was friendly when taking our orders. At one point, she couldn’t answer a question about the city, so she asked another local employee for us and got the answer. She was...

Nothing is good about this place - not service, not food, not dessert.. we came here because of all amazing reviews about their Salzburger Nockerl.. What can I say - everything was off there.. the smell in the restaurant like the WC We ordered cappuccino and latte - both were made out of the 1-click automatic coffee machine and we were charged almost $5 each - the coffees tasted disgusting And of course the Salzburger Nockerl . I understand it’s a matter of the taste.. but I don’t think anyone wants to have an omelette with berries as a dessert ( which btw was 18 euros!!!!). Our waiter never checked on us. And when i finally got his attention and explained that we didn’t like it , he asked us : So what can I do? And walked away.. 4-5 minutes later he was walking by, not paying any attention to us. We asked for a check but asked if he could remove the dessert- we didn’t eat it at all .. but he absolutely refused to do anything, constantly repeating: So what should I do? This is how we make it.. I be been in the restaurant business for many years and all I can say - this is not how you handle these type of situations. Extremely disappointing on our last night in Salzburg

Cafe Mozart in Salzburg is a quaint and charming cafe that is worth a visit. The decor is classic and tasteful, with beautiful furnishings and elegant chandeliers that create a cozy atmosphere. The menu at Cafe Mozart features a range of coffee drinks, teas, and pastries. While the coffee is good, the standout menu item is the Salzburger Nockerl, a local specialty that is a must-try. This light and fluffy dessert is made from whipped egg whites, vanilla, and sugar, and is usually served with raspberry sauce. It's a bit on the sweet side, but definitely worth trying at least once. The service at Cafe Mozart is friendly and attentive, and the staff is happy to provide recommendations or answer any questions. The cafe is also clean and well-maintained, with a welcoming vibe that makes it a great place to relax. Overall, Cafe Mozart is a nice spot to grab a drink and a pastry, or to indulge in a local specialty like Salzburger Nockerl. While the prices are a bit on the high side, the quality of the food and the ambiance make it a worthwhile experience.

During my visit to Salzburg, I had the pleasure of stopping by Café Mozart, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. The café has a charming and elegant ambiance, perfectly capturing the essence of Salzburg’s rich history and culture. Of course, I couldn’t leave without trying the famous Salzburger Nockerl, a light and fluffy dessert that arrived fresh from the oven. It was absolutely delicious—warm, airy, and with just the right balance of sweetness. A true must-try for anyone visiting the city! I also enjoyed a Mozart coffee, a rich and aromatic blend infused with chocolate and a hint of liqueur, making it the perfect companion to the dessert. The staff at Café Mozart were incredibly welcoming and attentive, adding to the overall wonderful experience. Their friendly service and attention to detail made my visit even more special. If you’re in Salzburg and looking for a cozy spot to enjoy traditional Austrian treats, Café Mozart is definitely worth a visit!
