I can understand that people might become rude when they age. But the difference lies in being rude to the customers of Indian origin and being nice to non-Indians.
Then there is also a way of conveying what you feel or think or the way you treat kids. Through the comments of the owner (lady), it also came across to me that she thinks of Indians as low order value customers and probably her rudeness arises from this very thought.
Though I did let her know that we have been living in Germany and tipped more than 10% to the other guy who was nice but I strongly feel that the approach of owner/s should be better. I would rather suggest that the owner/s may notify the two below mentioned points (conveyed to us verbally) on the advertisement that they put on the shopping street and on the restaurant’s entry point:-
One dish/meal per person ( as per the Austrian/European culture) else no entry. Ordering drinks is mandatory, else no entry.
I think with these two notifications, the rudeness of owner/s will subside considerably coz these felt to me like her/their pain points.
The Food came quiet quickly, I found it better than ok, my wife didnt like it. Price is in line with Austrian Indian Restaurants. Btw we also dined at Taj Mahal restaurant in Salzburg. Comparatively TAJ MAHAL fares way better in terms of food, service, quality, behaviour and customer service..!! Moreover the owner of Taj Mahal is a very nice and humble person.
Hoping that the owner/s read this review, I would like to quote one of the lines from Mahatma Gandhiji as under:-
“A customer is the most important visitor on our premises. He is not dependent on us. We are dependent on him. He is not an interruption of our work. He is the purpose of it. He is not an outsider of our business. He is part of it. We are not doing him a favour by serving him. He is doing us a favour by giving us the opportunity to do so.”
Hoping to visit the restaurant again on my next visit and probably...
Read moreHad an exceptional experience with receiving an exhilarating welcome from Europeans in Vienna and Salzburg last week but was appalled with the prejudiced treatment received by our fellow Indian from HANA'S RASOI RESTAURANT who apparently owns the place. After bingeing on European delicacies for weeks and coming across this Indian Restaurant, our taste buds got spiked up and we felt like enjoying a traditional meal. But unlike any other Indian traditional restaurant where a Guest or Customer is treated with kindness while entering their restaurant , Mr. Ahlu Walia already contended us as unworthy being the only Indians in that restaurant at that time and refused to even acknowledge our presence there. Impatiently after trying to get his attention, we were asked to wait or leave the restaurant. After this rude awakening, we tried to reason with him on his manner but the explanation that he summed up to us was that we kept our 2 year old daughter on the table for few seconds whilst we were arranging her chair was very disrespectful and demeaning to him. We were very shocked at that juncture and with his excuses to push us out of his restaurant, it left us wondering whether such inhumane gestures and lack of humanity consideration still prevails in this 21st century???
Having made him realize that our reviews were definitely going to reflect badly on his Restaurant business which he cared very less, we moved ahead in the New Town area and stumbled upon another Indian Restaurant by the name of WAY TO INDIA, their Proficient staff made us feel very welcome even though the Restaurant was packed. They had more varieties with reasonable cost but most importantly, they had a sense of belonging and etiquette to make their Customers feel valued and worthy of visiting them.
I would give 0 stars to HANA'S RASOI, SALZBURG and would not recommend andy person from any part of the continent to ever visit them. Eat with your self respect and pride...

Now, let’s talk about the food – simply outstanding! I had the paneer, and it was unbelievably fresh and delicious, with the perfect balance of spices and texture. The naan was a masterpiece—baked to perfection in the oven, giving it an earthy, smoky flavor reminiscent of authentic tandoori roti from India. Every bite transported me back home, making it one of the best Indian meals I’ve had outside India.
What makes this place truly special is its commitment to authenticity.
