Crossfield's Australian Pub — Restaurant in Vienna

I don’t usually post negative reviews however I am today, we visited this pub today, behind the bar were two staff who were not the least bit attentive, one English member was more interested in chatting to 3 women rather than serving waiting customers. The other member of staff informed this one he was going for a coffee and disappeared, three customers at the bar were waiting for drinks the English member of staff had completely forgotten, I was eventually served a drink, another female member of our party had to ask the Englishman over the bar if he wouldn’t mind getting her a drink as he seemed to have drifted back to chatting once more.

When leaving the English staff member approached me for payment, I said to him he was way quicker with the bill than he had been with the drinks, he told me he’s was on his own and had been very busy! I then pointed out to him how I’d stood and watched and waited while he casually chatted and ignored us and the other had disappeared, he then became aggressively defensive and told me in no uncertain terms that “YOU DO NOT SPEAK TO PEOPLE IN AUSTRIA IN THIS WAY OTHERWISE THEY WILL GET VERY MAD” I said oh so you not allowed to complain then? I have never been spoken to so rudely for making a quite valid point. In my experience as a business owner if one of my customers had pointed out the error of my ways I would listen and then put the right process in place to prevent this happening again. I told him if that was his way of dealing with paying customers (the only reason he’s employed) that I would vote with my feet and never return. I don’t usually complain as all we wanted was serving with courtesy without confrontation and we got neither. 1 star for this poor...

TL;DR: Currently debating if to make a report to the Stadtgesundheitsamt for unhygienic conditions

Used to love this place and come here often for the great vibes. Not sure what happened..

Sat on the bar yesterday early evening like old times - before things got busy. Where we sat was sticky and wet. After being served, we had to ask the bartender for napkins and clean the area ourselves.

The bar and sliced fruit meant to be later served in drinks were covered in flies and there was a really strong smell of stale beer - more than what is reasonable.

No doubt that this was in part due to the sink which was half-filled with actual garbage and the puddle of beer that was mixed with some mysterious brown sludge that was ignored by staff. I saw the waitress place a rack of clean glasses directly over the puddle where they stayed until she loaded them into a freezer (nice touch but still gross). The staff left it there for a while and frankly, a hygienic workspace is the basis of bartending.

We were so disgusted that we had to move to a table - which happened to be greasy and sticky. The music was terrible which never happened in the past. They played something from the musical Grease and other songs that really aren't suited for Friday night at a place like this.

We had hoped to spend the entire evening there (before seeing how unhygienic it was) and the final straw came when they seated a party of at least 10 guys in a table for maximum 6 next to us which left no space. In the end, we went over to another place nearby.

Sorry to leave such a bad review but it had to be said in the hopes that things improve before...

Food and drinks are good don't get me wrong but service kind of unacceptable. Near the end of our evening there, my friend who had ordered some food left to go buy some cigarettes. Most of the group decided to pay for their stuff and leave. Me and two others decided to wait for my friend who had left to get cigarettes because he still didn't pay and of course we didnt want to leave his stuff there whilst he didnt even pay for his food. As we are waiting a waiter tells us we have to pay for our friend and leave because we havent ordered anything else. So essentially he wanted us to leave cuz we were just waiting at the table for our friend to come back. I wouldve understood if the rest of the group spent 10 euro total but altogether we had gathered a 80 euro bill not including one of my friends left a tip too. Anyway this was a really disappointing experience and I dont understand why we couldnt have simply waited for our friend to come back. If he let us wait 10 minutes my friend could have payed for himself instead of forcing someone who had not ordered a single thing to pay for him. I dont mind paying for my friend but the waiter could have simply understood the situation and waited for my friend to come back and pay instead of forcing...
