Imperial Bar Wien — Restaurant in Vienna

Joined the place for the afternoon tea with quite high expectations. Unfortunately, food was extremely average, borderline bad. Sandwiches of such lvl can be found in supermarket. Not an exaggeration. Caviar is good but served with fresh white onion (???) and very, very bad blinis. Have viennese people forgotten how to serve caviar?? Price for caviar was north of 200 EUR. Scones were good, that that would be the only highlight of this experience. The interior itself is of course very, very nice and I would recommend visiting it, just don't waste your time and money on afternoon tea and caviar. We also asked for strudel and it was bad, very basic taste and no sauce/ice cream. I'm not sure how is it possible to have a bad strudel and serve caviar in such a disastrous way at the 5 star hotel IMPERIAL in the very center of Vienna, but...

Ordered orange and lemon juice. They brought out Fanta orange. When asked to confirm, they said ‘yes’ it is a Fanta and then they literally rushed off mid conversation.

Worth also noting that the table behind us complained that they waited over an hour for their food, after they complained it arrived quickly.

I ordered a cafetiere, and receive the most bitter coffee in a pot (tastes like an awful americano).

The imperial cake is good (note it is made with marzipan) and the strudel is delicious!

They did remove the Fanta from the bill (without asking) so I’m glad they did pay attention to my comments when they rushed off. I’m still mystified how orange/lemon juice can equate to Fanta in a place where they should, all things considered, have fresh...

Wow - Gorgeous bar.

We stopped here for a night cap after eating nearby.

The bar is in a large rectangular (~35 feet x 45 feet) room with a 25 foot high ceiling.

The ceilings are mirrored. The upper third of the high walls are decorated like a section of library books.

There are at least a dozen seating groups of 2, 4 and 7 plus 6 seats at the bar.

The bar seats are nicely padded and covered in leather. The floor seated is very comfortable, oversized, cloth fabric.

The background music is pleasing and not too loud.

The bar staff is attentive and helpful. They also brought out some nice bar snacks.

Drinks here are priced as you would think for a hotel of this caliber.
