I got Food Poisoned here

My name is Vadim Mihailov, and I recently stayed at Royal Atlantis Bahamas in room 12.582 of the West Tower. I am writing to bring to your attention a serious health issue that occurred during my stay, specifically on the evening of December 2nd, at Carmine’s restaurant.

I have been a loyal guest at Atlantis The Palm for many years, having visited several times while living in Dubai. This stay was especially important to my family and me, as it was a much-needed break after a particularly demanding period in my life. I had high expectations for this visit, which, unfortunately, were not met due to the incident I am about to describe.

On December 2nd, my wife and I dined at Carmine’s restaurant. We ordered a mixed green salad, fried zucchini, and spaghetti with shrimp. The salad was tasteless and not fresh, and the zucchini portion was excessively large and had a strange taste. Unfortunately, I continued to eat, despite the odd flavor, as I was quite hungry after waiting for a long time for our main course.

Later that evening, I began feeling unwell. I was violently ill throughout the night, vomiting 14-15 times, experiencing severe diarrhea (7-8 times), stomach cramps, fever (100°F), and blood in my stool. The symptoms were severe enough that I called the hotel reception for medical assistance. I was told that the doctor would be available at 8:00 AM, so I waited until then and went to the nurse’s station.

Upon arrival, I found that the doctor was not available until after 1:00 PM. While waiting, I became increasingly ill, almost passing out in the clinic. I eventually received IV treatment, and although I felt a little better, I continued to experience digestive issues, including more vomiting and diarrhea, over the next few days.

During this time, I was unable to eat, sleep, or enjoy any of the activities I had planned. My health deteriorated, and I was left feeling exhausted, weak, and deeply disappointed by my experience at Atlantis. My family also suffered as they had to watch me struggle with these severe symptoms, and my wife, who is pregnant, was understandably concerned about the potential risks to her health as well.

In addition to the physical toll, the incident significantly disrupted my business schedule and personal life, leading to postponed meetings and missed work obligations. I am currently undergoing medical treatment and will continue to do so for some time, which is causing further distress.

Given my long-standing relationship with Atlantis, and especially Carmine’s Restaurant, I am deeply disappointed by this experience. I sincerely hope that this complaint will be taken seriously, and I request a thorough investigation into the food quality and the handling of medical care during my stay. It is crucial that steps be taken to prevent such incidents in the future.

I look forward to hearing from you and trust that you will address this issue appropriately.

Thank you for your attention to...

Revised Review for Carmine’s at Atlantis, June 29, 2025 Our experience at Carmine’s on June 29 at the Atlantis was deeply disappointing and frustrating, marking another lackluster visit during our stay. We returned because our kids enjoy the chicken Parm, but the overall experience was marred by disorganization and poor service. The atmosphere was chaotic, with staff openly arguing and bickering multiple times throughout the evening, creating an uncomfortable vibe. Communication was practically nonexistent. We had a 7:30 PM reservation but weren’t seated until 7:45. A server’s helper took our drink order promptly, but when our server arrived at 7:55, she was unaware we’d ordered drinks, forcing us to repeat ourselves. After taking our meal order, she vanished for the rest of the night—we never saw her again. To make matters worse, our table was repeatedly brought orders that weren’t ours. Multiple times, we had to flag down staff to return incorrect dishes, adding to the frustration. Once we placed our meal order, it took a staggering 65 minutes for our food to arrive, despite the restaurant being only about half full. This delay was inexcusable given the low crowd. Two young men assisting with drink orders and water refills were clearly trying their best, and their effort stood out in an otherwise dismal experience. However, the root issue seems to lie with leadership. The lack of organization, communication, and basic courtesy points to a failure in management and structure. It feels like Carmine’s is a temporary job for staff, which shows in the inconsistent and unprofessional service. While the chicken Parm was decent enough for our kids, the chaotic environment, incorrect orders, excessive wait times, and nonexistent server presence made this a forgettable experience. Carmine’s needs a serious overhaul to meet even basic expectations. We won’t be returning...

Zero stars. Yolanda the hostess is the nastiest woman I have ever met in my entire life. When we walked in she was outside watching the parade instead of at the hostess booth. Then she proceeded to run in front of us as we were walking up to beat us to the door and says "do you even have a reservation” I was like I could've sworn I made one for 9:30 and I started checking my phone. Before I even looked up. She then says "well we are booked and you can't come eat here." I was like but I literally just saw it was open. So then I go back to open table. See a 9:45 open and make the reservation. I make the reservation and come back in. She gives me theeeee nastiest look and says did you just make a reservation?! I said yes. She goes YOU CANT DO THAT! YOU CANNOT EAT HERE. We are booked (several visible tables were open btw) Mind you we literally walked up to the hostess station smiling and being friendly with a toddler.

We didn't do anything to this woman to warrant this behavior. We were nice and dressed appropriately. I asked to speak to the manager and she walks off. The manager comes back and seats us with no problem. She didn't even ask us what happened. I explained once we got to the table and she apologized. I almost felt like Yolanda wanted to literally fight us because they were closing soon and she just wanted to go home. I was so upset I didn't even want to eat anymore but my son and husband were hungry. Our waiter Deon was nice and the general manager came by to chat never mentioning the incident but obviously trying to test our temperature. We aren’t mean people so we played along. Note to anyone wanting to eat here go early or perhaps not at all if you want to feel like you’re going to get pounced on my a heavy set woman named Yolanda for no...

We made a reservation via OpenTable for a Saturday night 9 PM reservation. Upon arrival to the restaurant we were greeted, and only had to wait a very brief moment before being sat at our table. It was an excellent table right next to the window with a view of the beautiful marina. The busser greeted us before our waiter and brought us water. It took our waiter close to 15 minutes before coming over to our table. It wasn’t overly busy in the restaurant. But in the Bahamas we have discovered over our visits, there is no sense of urgency. They truly are on island time. We ordered penne à la vodka, as well as the chicken scappolini. The bread at the table was absolutely delicious. Just beware as you will fill up quickly on it. The dishes are all served family style, and it is pricey for us a table of 2. O can see where it would be a great option for large families. The vodka dish was absolutely delicious. The sauce was so amazing, some of the best vodka sauce I’ve had. Added a few dashes of crushed red chili and it just sets it off. So so good. Definitely top-tier Italian. The chicken scappellini was good not overly flavorful, but this was the dish that my boyfriend wanted but was still good. We were so full that we skipped dessert. As I said before service was not quick, but they were very friendly and overall it was a good experience. If you are looking for a good hearty Italian meal, this is definitely a good spot. I only wish our room had a microwave, so I could’ve eaten the penne à la vodka the next day!

We had such a marvelous dining experience at this restaurant. We were warmly agreeted upon entrance and seated immediately at our reservation time. The atmosphere was elegant and definitely giving a resort happiness vibe. The portions here are absolutely massive. They say an entrée can feed 2 to 3 people, but it actually can feed 4 to 5 people. Our server Tequila was an absolute experience!! If you come here asked to be seated with her. She gave excellent food as well as drink recommendations and was a true joy and pleasure to interact with throughout our meal. We started with the baked clans but they actually came out a little over baked so we sent those back and had the mussels instead. The steamed mussels were flavorful and delicious and we ate every single one of them and again it was a very large portion. We then had the mixed seafood grill, which was lobster, calamari, shrimp and mussels served over the pasta of your choice . We chose the white sauce and angel hair noodles. It was absolutely delicious and way too much food. We had to take home a box. The house red wine was good. We were also able to taste our friends penne, à la vodka, and it was good as well. They also have several specialty cocktails, and I had one that was mixed with champagne and it was really good. Every drink Tequila recommended was great! We were too full for dessert. I have to recommend this restaurant and I will definitely return. It is located in the Marina Village area of Atlantis resort.
