Myself & partner booked a table for 6 pm on Monday 5th 2022 by the window. The restaurant opened at 6 pm so we were the first people inside. We ordered 2 beers and sat down at our table. After waiting for 15 mins no one had taken our order so I had to ask one of the waiters if they could please take our orders. I ordered Salmon and swapped it for chips instead of the mash that it came with. My partner ordered steak and potatoes. My partner had to call the waiter back to tell him how she liked her steak as he never asked. Also to note he didn’t write the order down either. He kept it in his head….
The bar started to get more people inside and to our surprise, some meals started to come out to people who came in long after us. After 20 mins we ordered more drinks and we just waited patiently. More and more folk were now eating but not us. This carried on until I got fed up and lost my patience. The time was now 7 pm. This was a full hour of waiting since we first sat down!!! I called the waiter over and asked where our food is. He said he will check. After 5 mins he came over to our table and said there has been a mistake made by the restaurant. Apparently, another 2 people ordered the exact same order as us and they received their meal which was apparently ours. (Not sure how that makes sense) anyway, this was the excuse given to us, basically saying our meals were sent out to 2 people who ordered the same meal. It is worth noting no duplicate meal was sent out either so someone would never have received their meals….hmmmmm
We were not charged for the 2nd drink…they offered to make us the food now and we asked are we expected to pay if we stay. Of course, came the reply. If you eat the food, you have to pay for it. So, we left. This resulted in a mad rush to find somewhere last minute to eat elsewhere.
If I could give this place a zero I would!!! Service...
Read moreSaw good reviews about this place so thought we would try while visiting brugee.
Walked in around 17.30 as passing to have a look - asked to book a table for food @ 19.00 was told it wasn't possible if we wanted to eat grab a table and hold on to it as its going to be busy - however most of the tables we already reserved so not sure why we could reserve a table.
So we sat down earlier than we wanted to eat - ordered a drink I asked for a 1/2 litre of beer (it's shown on the menu as being served in 0.litres) 5 mins later drinks arrive and I've got half a half pint !
So I ask the guy is that a half ? I'm rudly told it's a half of a half paint which is what I asked for !
So I relay that I wanted half a litre .
I complete look of discust on his face ! Your in an Irish pub mate if you want a pint order a pint ! You ordered a half so you get a half ! In a raised rude tone.
I again say I ordered a 0.5 litres - so you want a pint then? Hes not prepared to change it - when I push him he snatches it off the table and goes and gets a 0.5 litre
Bewildered I look at the menu again and it's stated served 0.5 litres.
A very rude and argessive conversation which is not expected.
We ordered a sharing platter but it wasn't great felt like the chicken wings had been re heated and the ribs were cold !
Really not a great experience I would give it a pass - hopefully the owners will read this and give the mouthy irish lad a bit of customer...
Read moreDelaney's pub is a good venue with great atmosphere and music at the weekend. However, my experience there last Saturday night left a very sour impression with me. I asked the staff for a glass of water to bring to my boyfriend who was sitting upstairs and was having a very quick allergic reaction to something he had consumed. The staff gave me a bottle of water which I was asked to pay for. I didn't have money or my card on me so I clarified that I wanted tap water. They then informed me that they don't serve tap water to tables and I would have to buy. They proceeded to give me a glass of water, but said I had to drink it, on the spot, at the bar. When I again clarified why I needed to bring it upstairs, they stated that if I didn't consume it myself at the bar, then I would be escorted from the premises.
I am very aware that there is no obligation in Belgium for businesses to serve tap water. However, the tap water is perfectly safe to drink everywhere in Belgium and also in Bruges. Given the circumstances of what I had told the staff, I found the whole situation appalling and it is really something to be considered more widely in venues that are serving food and drinks to customers. There were plenty of other venues we visited in Bruges over the course of the weekend that gave us tap water without us even requesting it. I have never went abroad and experienced any staff at an Irish bar treating...
