A friendly meat and fish combination place specializing in traditional couscous. The menu board offers various meats, including rabbit (which is made Grandmother's style).

Surf & Turf is operated by international chef Abdelkader Dhayem and Ekrem Zurel. Abdelkader is from Bruges but has Tunisia roots. His heritage comes through in his flavors.

I originally opted for a basic pasta dish, but Abdelkader (Abraham) suggested, "You are on vacation, in a new town, why not try something completely different." I asked him to suggest something which he immediately offered his Homemade Cheese Croquettes.

These were perfectly fried, yielding the right amount of a crunchy breaded shell. The cheese, Gruyere, melted in the mouth. This was served over a light green salad with cucumbers and carrots.

We also had a steak with a peppercorn sauce. Perfectly seasoned and very moist and juicy.

The fries are an automatic side. Thick fries perfectly fried and served hot.

The restaurant is outdoor and indoors. We sat outside in the open air, enjoying a cool breeze after a very warm day.

Abraham also made my selection of white wine perfectly chilled. His partner, Ekrem, came out of the kitchen and went to each table asking how they liked the meal. A nice touch.

This is a strong four star restaurant, as napkins and silverware should have been changed out according to our selections. The candle on the table was never lit, but as other guests arrived, it was a toss-up as to who's candle they would light.

The outdoor seating is not separated from the street. A large van and a passenger car drove by our table. I had to stand up when the van came by as he was only inches from our table.

I finished my wine early in the meal and was not offered another glass. We had to flag down the partner to pay the bill. Water was never offered despite the weather in the 90's today. An unusual temperature for Bruges, which rarely gets into the high 80's.

I would definitely eat here again and venture another menu item I would not...

Do not ruin your experience in the lovely town of bruges by going to this horrendous restaurant- the food was absolutely awful- I ordered the most expensive steak on the menu and requested medium rare. However, it came completely over cooked with not a pink glare in sight. The starter of calamari was equally as bad. They were factory processed and frozen produce. The salmon was completely burned and dry. I recieved a huge bowl of chips with my steak which probably over compensated for the lack of quality in the main dishes- I was very disappointed as the overall ambience and area was lovely to be around. The waitor also was a very nice man, who asked for a tip at the end of the meal and it pained me to refuse the tip. I am normally very willing and generous with a tip, even if it wasn't an amazing meal, however, this was so bad I could not possibly tip. And to top this all off, two of the staff sat right next to us on a table smoking cigarettes with no consideration for us at all. Finally, we recieved the bill and it was an extortionate price. Equivalent to a very upmarket and quality restaurant. I have never left a review before on a restaurant, good or bad, I could not resist after...

Unfortunately, I can't recommend this restaurant at all. The waiter, an older Mr. was very nice, but withdrew a lot after we told him that the food was of poor quality. The price-performance ratio did not match here. For the appetizer we had two (!) Croquettes for 17€, which were not convincing in terms of taste or would justify the price. As a main course, I had a rib eye steak (medium). The meat I got had no greasy eye and was also so tough that I didn't want to chew it. For 27€ you can expect more here. After addressing the poor quality of the meat, I actually got a new piece after some discussion with another waiter. Unfortunately, this was then rather "rare" fried and unfortunately even tougher. It went back completely. However, no one was interested in this anymore and there was no demand for satisfaction. In addition, I was also allowed to pay for this disaster in full. What a pity!

Unfortunately, my wife's burger was also rather loveless and dry.

Our conclusion: avoid this restaurant! We paid 94€...

Took a while choosing somewhere to eat, but decided on this place based on recent reviews. The lobsters in the window were lifeless and crammed so personally that wasn't on the menu. The set menus looked attractive and fair prices so we went for them. Wasnt overly busy, promptly guided to an empty table. We ordered flemish stew and mussels (for the SO) we had starters as well, I had the cheese croquette and the missus a shrimp croquette. The cheese one was okay, the shrimp however was very fishy, and a little flavourless. Main course, I will be honest, the delivery of the mussels was impressive. My partner had it in garlic sauce, more of a broth, it was okay. My flemish stew was equally okay. Overall it was an average meal, the owner was a nice guy however my missus didn't enjoy being called "princess" (it did make me chuckle though) May be better on a busy night with more atmosphere.
