Had a table booked for 4 adults and specified in the notes we would have two buggies. Upon arriving we were greeted by a very hostile member of staff who was extremely rude and made us feel very unwelcome. Wouldn’t check our reservation and just told us they couldn’t accommodate the buggies. When we kept repeating that we had told them about the buggies they clearly didn’t care and continued to make us feel very uncomfortable. Despite having half empty restaurant they tried to squeeze us in a table between diners which we clearly wouldn’t fit around. They told us to dismantle the buggies we explained a) that one physically couldn’t and 2) are babies are so young they will need to sleep in them at some point. We then got told to go else where. It was so shocking. It was also a freezing cold night I don’t know what decent human being would not help accommodate two young families. Have honestly never encountered anyone so rude. Even the other diners in the restaurant tried to come to aid and advised us where else we could go that was family friendly where this restaurant was not. So bottom line do not go here if you are a family or if you are expecting a...

Was I eating at the same restaurant as everyone else here? My wife and I came because of the five star reviews, and even tripadvisor gave it a high rating, but this was probably one of the most disappointing meals I've had in a while. While our starter of fried courgettes was good (and that's why I'm giving it 2 stars instead of 1), the mains were a disaster. The moussaka came as a perfectly formed brick - which is not a good sign - instead of a creamy white sauce on the top, you had something between the consistency of creme brulee and a cake and the lamb mince didn't come across as being particularly flavourful either. The chicken souvlaki (grilled skewers) were dry and overcooked, instead of being juicy and tender; thank goodness for the yoghurt that came with it, otherwise it would have been totally inedible. And please don't order the house red - it was probably my mistake because I had just come from Spain and France where every restaurant's house red is amazing - but this one tasted... well, there wasn't any. Stick with the beer, you are in...

"Review isn't only focus on food but the service and everything relevant. This comment is not about food but the manner of serving customers before they enter the restaurant and pay."

There are 1/3 of the tables available in the restaurant when we came in. I told a waitress that I wanted a table for three then she asked me to wait a moment. Then a man came to ask me again and finally told me that no table is available without reservation with an unfriendly face.

"I was not disappointed of not getting a table but the unfriendly face showed on the waiter."

Simply not welcoming tourist.

Not recommended as there are a lot of restaurants with good comments nearby.

If you simply look for tasty food and you are well prepared to make a reservation in advanced, you could still try it.

I think my comments are frank enough to reveal the situation. But I received such reply from the restaurant in the...

I recently dined at The Olive Tree in Bruges, and it was a delightful experience from start to finish. The restaurant’s cozy yet elegant ambiance creates a warm, welcoming atmosphere that perfectly complements its Mediterranean-inspired menu. I ordered the dorade, which was cooked to perfection. The fish was beautifully seasoned and grilled, with a delicate, flaky texture that paired wonderfully with the fresh herbs and olive oil drizzle. The accompanying sides—seasonal vegetables and a light, citrusy salad—were equally impressive and balanced the dish well. The service was attentive. It’s clear they take pride in offering authentic flavors and high-quality ingredients. Whether you’re looking for a romantic evening or a casual yet refined meal, The Olive Tree is a fantastic choice. I highly recommend trying the dorade if you’re a fan of fresh, flavorful seafood.

Today was the second time we were able to visit The Olive Tree. P We previously visited in September 2016 and thoroughly enjoyed a delicious meal and hospitality. Our visit in 2016 was mainly because we had a vegetarian in our party, and this restaurant gave a lot more vegetarian and vegan choices than other restaurants in Bruges, which are quite meat-focused. Every time we visit Bruges since 2016, we keep trying to visit The Olive Tree, but the months we normally go, it seems to be shut :-( We were delighted that it opened again tonight (26th Jan 2024 - a day earlier than advertised on the website) I'm pleased to say we were not disappointed! The food is still excellent, and hospitality is still perfect. I can highly recommend the $44 euro menu, as this includes a variety starter, which is incredibly scrumptious. We are looking forward to visiting again!
