I recently dined at Chez Francois in Brussels, and I must say it was a highly disappointing experience. The overall quality of the food was below average, leaving me deeply unsatisfied.

Firstly, the dishes lacked flavor and finesse. The ingredients seemed mediocre and poorly executed. It was evident that little attention was given to the taste and presentation of the food. I had high expectations for a restaurant in Brussels, known for its culinary scene, but Chez Francois failed to deliver.

Furthermore, the customer service was abysmal. The staff displayed a complete lack of professionalism and seemed disinterested in providing a pleasant dining experience. They were inattentive, slow to respond, and dismissive of customer concerns. It felt as if we were an inconvenience to them rather than valued guests.

The overall atmosphere of the restaurant was lackluster as well. The ambiance was uninviting, and the cleanliness of the dining area left much to be desired. It was evident that the restaurant did not prioritize maintaining a pleasant environment for its patrons.

Considering the high number of exceptional dining options in Brussels, I strongly advise against wasting your time and money at Chez Francois. There are far better establishments that offer delicious food and excellent customer service.

A Hidden Gem in Brussels – Exceptional Food and Service at Françoise

My friend and I had the pleasure of having lunch at Françoise today, and we can honestly say it was one of the highlights of our trip to Brussels. The food was absolutely amazing - incredibly fresh, beautifully cooked, and full of flavour.

We were recommended this lovely restaurant by the wonderful staff at Hotel Cardo, who also kindly made our reservation for 1.30pm. We arrived a little early and were momentarily enchanted by the charming little fishmonger next door, thinking the restaurant might be tucked away inside. In fact, Françoise is located just to the side, offering both indoor and outdoor seating.

We were warmly welcomed by the beautiful and friendly Fiona, who invited us to sit wherever we liked. We chose a lovely spot outside, and from that moment on, everything was perfect. Fiona, along with the entire team, was not only friendly and professional but incredibly knowledgeable about the menu.

We happily went with Fiona’s fantastic recommendation - the day’s special of scallops and garlic shrimp for starters, followed by grilled sea bream and another special main dish. Everything was absolutely delicious and perfectly complemented by a glass of Sancere wine.

Beyond the great food, it was the hospitality that truly stood out. Fiona and the rest of the team were patient, welcoming, and attentive to our needs. They even offered us great local tips and recommendations for other places to visit in Brussels.

We will most definitely be recommending Françoise to everyone we know visiting Brussels - and we will absolutely be back the next time we’re here. A huge thank you to Fiona for making our experience so memorable!

Un petit bijou à Bruxelles - Cuisine et service exceptionnels chez Françoise

Mon amie et moi avons eu le plaisir de déjeuner chez Françoise aujourd’hui, et nous pouvons sincèrement dire que c’était l’un des moments forts de notre séjour à Bruxelles. La cuisine était tout simplement incroyable - d’une fraîcheur remarquable, savoureuse et parfaitement préparée.

Ce charmant restaurant nous a été recommandé par le personnel formidable de l’hôtel Cardo, qui a également eu la gentillesse de réserver une table pour 13h30. Arrivées quelques minutes en avance, nous avons été séduites par la jolie poissonnerie voisine, pensant d’abord que le restaurant se trouvait à l’intérieur. En réalité, Françoise se trouve juste à côté, avec un espace de restauration intérieur et extérieur.

Nous avons été accueillies chaleureusement par la magnifique et sympathique Fiona, qui nous a invitées à choisir l’endroit qui nous plaisait le plus. Nous avons opté pour une table en terrasse, et dès ce moment, tout a été parfait. Fiona, ainsi que toute l’équipe, était non seulement aimable et professionnelle, mais aussi très bien informée sur le menu.

Nous avons suivi avec plaisir ses excellentes recommandations - les spécialités du jour : des coquilles Saint-Jacques et des crevettes à l’ail en entrée, suivies de daurade et d’un autre plat spécial du jour. Tout était délicieux, sublimé par un verre de vin de Sancerre.

Au-delà de la qualité exceptionnelle des plats, c’est surtout l’accueil et la gentillesse du personnel qui nous ont touchées. Fiona et l’équipe ont été attentives, patientes et toujours prêtes à répondre à nos besoins, tout en nous partageant de bonnes adresses à découvrir à Bruxelles.

Nous recommanderons sans hésitation Françoise à toutes les personnes que nous connaissons venant à Bruxelles - et nous reviendrons à coup sûr lors de notre prochain passage. Un immense merci à Fiona pour avoir rendu ce moment...

As you enter the place you are welcomed by a both classy and cosy atmosphere. The large kitchen and the dinning room are separated by a big glass window, which lets you admire the kitchen staff work. Regarding the food, they offer a variety of fresh fish, fish soup and sea food (Oysters, mussels..) We had 3 big grilled gambas with a olive oil and thyme sauce, followed by a fish soup with croutons, a large pot of mussels and a bottle of French white wine from Burgundy, leaving no space for dessert. The food was delicious and you could definitely feel the freshness. The atmosphere was very pleasant too. The service was excellent, our waiter was kind and polite. Slightly disappointing though, was the wait. We had to wait twenty five minutes for the first dish to arrive and even more time for the main dish. Another negative point is the price. The prawns (3 in total) costs EUR 31! (and I’m used to expensive restaurant. I just expected more for this price) If you’re looking for value for money, the mussels are a good option as the pot is huge and the mussels very tasty .
