I came across this restaurant service very appalling and gave me the most insulting moment that I've had in my life. The main waitress who looked in late 30's to late 40's in blond asked us whether or not we have a problem with money when we complained about the ridiculously overcharged the bottle of tap water, which costed 4.80€. Is it true that we have to pay for Tap water in Belgium by paying 5€ in any restaurant? When it comes to the price I can accept the overcharged price for naive tourists like us as they are located in the centre of Lower town though, the way she responded was absolutely insulting. She even insulted Spain as soon as she heard my boyfriend is from Spain by saying 'better off going to a Tapas restaurant near by the corner as the price is cheap'. This restaurant absolutely ruined my time in Brussels and gave me unforgettable bad experience. Overall the restaurant seemed to target tourists who have money not knowing the local. Most of their customers are from abroad saying English, then their overall flavour was rather adjusted to 'so called, fatty food flavour'. Please have a look at other reviews marked good ratings, then you can see numbers of people are English speakers. They said they serve the real belgium cousin, however it wasn't true. The cream sauce was greasy and the mussels were overlooked in White wine which caused unpleasant smell I found it very strong when I dipped bread in the sauce, and few mussels weren't fresh enough I found it hard to open the mouth which we shouldn't eat normally especially in the summer time. The bread they are serving for free is the cheapest one ever. Honestly I can't understand why this restaurant has a a good rating 4.5?. I wish Google same as the Tripadvisor needs to scrutinise customers reviews to provide tourists with sincere, precise information.
We thought it would be worth it trying Belgium cuisine and this restaurant outlook seemed very cozy from the outside. I hope there would be no more people anymore who are mistaken by their fake appearance from...
Read moreI hate writing negative reviews, but my recent experience was so disappointing that I feel compelled to share. My friends and I were in search of a lunch spot and decided to try this place advertised as offering typical Belgian cuisine. Upon arrival, our first impression was poor. Despite being told there was a table for three, the waiter led us upstairs with apparent irritation. Within minutes of sitting down, we were informed that the kitchen would close in five minutes, leaving us rushed to place our orders. Disappointingly, there were no vegetarian or vegan options available, with the menu heavily focused on meat dishes. Despite my personal preference against meat and fish, hunger compelled me to reluctantly order the salmon. Adding to the discomfort, it was evident that the staff didn’t enjoy our presence as tourists who were speaking English. When I started speaking French to the waiter, he looked very embarrassed as he must have understood that I’ve heard all of the rude things his colleague and him have been saying about us.
P.S. the stairs were narrow, steep, and, in my view, hazardous. It's no surprise the waiter seemed annoyed at the prospect of going up and down them...
Read moreThe mussels (and according to my mates, also the steaks) were of very good quality, I must say that, but the service is below average. I ordered "moules nature", they brought the mussels and a dish of fries and that's it, no "desire anything more ?", no, they both ignore you until it's time to pay. I would have liked some mayonnaise or mussel sauce, but they just ignore you, not interested in upselling. So I had to eat my mussels with fries dry. Even in lunch garden, makro or Ikea, mussel sauce is offered! Also, if you can't drink alcohol, e.g. because you have to drive, then be prepared to have a coke, because that's...
