One week after moving here 5 years ago, I saw this place and couldn't wait to go (I had a favorite, regular blues bar back home). Well, I finally went and wish my first time WAS 5 years ago!! Fabulous place!

A few of us went to catch Iron Wheel playing (GREAT BAND-- look up their CD release). There was tonnes of music, drink, dancing, and laughing. We also ate there (yum!). My sister and nibblings ordered a few dishes of standard fare and rated the chicken quesadillas the best out of all the dishes they ordered. My partner got the fish and chips and said it was also good.

I'm not one to order standard fare when there are culinary adventures to be had and ordered the palabok. A-MAZE-ING!! Rice noodles drown in shrimp gravy, with shrimp, crisp pork belly, smoked fish, boiled egg, and crips pork rind. The serving was massive and I barely put a dent in it, so passed it around the table. Some folks took a tentative bite of this unfamiliar dish, but after one bite, everyone was digging in-- "THIS IS SO GOOD!!!!!" My only criticism of the dish is that I found it quite salty (nothing a pint of beer won't fix). I loved the 'roughness' of the decor, and the atmosphere was perfect! It had the same vibe as my favorite haunt back home. I can't...

The most honest review possible: (new location at Grafton) As soon as we entered the restaurant the guy at the entrance was more focused on selling us the cover charge for the music that doesn’t even start till later rather than even greeting us or directing us to our reserved table. Then we go in and nobody even took notice of us for a good minute and we had to look for somebody to lead us to our reserved table. The hosts just kept passing us to other hosts and we continued being respectful but it was horrible service from the very beginning.

Our food took so long and all our favorite plates we used to frequently order at the old location of Barrios/Bearlys House of Blues had always been fantastic, but the food we had at Grafton st was nothing short of disappointing. Every dish’s flavor had completely changed and we had to ask the servers for more condiments just to enhance the flavor. The servers didn’t care for catering properly to customers.

I would like to give 2 stars for food though because the calamari was amazing, but the rest of the dishes did not meet the expectations and like your food used to be sooooo good at the old location but not the...

I went here during the $5 Burger week in March 2013. Upon arrival our waitress, at the end of her shift, proceeded to insult me and the group of people I was with. Unfortunately, the way she was slurring her words and acting oddly we all suspected she had been drinking. We proceeded to order water, at which point she insulted us again. Upon placing our food order our waitresses shift had ended and she had left without placing our order. For a table of five, not placing the order means a significant wait for us once they realized their mistake. More specifically, this meant a 2 hour wait for us without the place even being close to full. In summation, none of us would recommend this place to anyone, and we all got our meal for $5 (regular...

Amazing place to come by and grab a bite or two and listen to great live music. The staff was very friendly and I will definitely be coming back !

First visit to Halifax. I was looking for Gaelic music, or maybe blues. Everyone said to go here. So I did. No Gaelic music, no blues. Instead I found THE GREEN REFLECTORS, two brothers (Kyle & Aaron) blasting out original rock songs at thermonuclear volume. Great stuff! Reminded me of the infamous CBGB's and Mud Club of 1980 NYC! (Yeah, I lived there at the time, and I'm old enough to remember them fondly.) At Bearly's I rocked, everyone rocked, even the wait staff boogied around between tables while delivering drinks. This place is great. Don't miss it if you visit Halifax. Next time I'm here I look forward to hearing some of the blues music it's famous for. I just hope it's as much fun as The Green Reflectors.
