Me and my wife were absolutely disgusted with the service at Kelly O’Bryans. It was my birthday and my wife wanted to take me out for a birthday dinner. We ended up walking through the front door and the greeter asked us where we’d like to sit. They said the outside balcony upstairs was booked for a private event, but we were able to go upstairs to watch the hockey game if we’d like. We decided to do just that so we went upstairs, sat down and started watching the game 10 minutes later the server finally came to our table and we ordered drinks. They came about five minutes later and after about 15 minutes into that drink, the server came back and said that upstairs was booked for a private event and that we couldn’t stay there we’re told us a half an hour after being upstairs and settled ready to order. We told them that we were told to come up here and that it was fine. She said she will check and 10 to 15 minutes later someone else came up to us and really told us we needed to leave. We asked them could we eat downstairs upset that over a half an hour later we’re told that we have to leave our table. At this point where we were stressed because my wife had an appointment later that night that she had to get to and we were starting to run out of time. We went downstairs and I went to the bar and this lady who walked up to us with this very strange look on her face. I started telling her what was happening and she basically cut me off. I don’t know if she was a manager or who she was but we eventually asked can we eat downstairs. She said yes, showed us to an area and said we could sit anywhere we wanted to so we sat down in a booth and then she came up to us and said that booth is reserved and we had to leave that booth at that point, we stood up and said we were leaving in discussed. And I swear I heard her say in a low tone that’s good just a snotty attitude. The food definitely is not that good to put up with that kind of attitude. Giving a customer a runaround like that doing nothing for them and they knew it was my birthday on top of that. We ended up believing and going across the street to Earls told him the situation and time crunch were under. They got us into a table immediately on the patio and serve us quickly. Earls saved the day for us. We were able to quickly eat our meal and my wife left to her appointment. I’ve got to say Kelly O’Bryans really wreck our night. We definitely will encourage everybody to stay away from that place. This is not the first time we’ve had bad service there. It’s just where I’m met my wife many years ago so it had sentimental value, but that value is now gone. You know how it is you have great service you tell three people you have bad service you tell dozens. And we’re definitely going to tell dozens! Do yourself a favour and stay away...
Read moreMarch 2025 - Update - Dropped in again for another birthday dinner. Larger group so more options ordered such as the Irish Short Rib, Shrimp 'n' Lobster Subwich, Dunkin's Beef Dip, and Irish Onion Soup. Once again, every dish delicious and well-prepared. Although one or two perhaps cooled too quickly before the others were ready for serving, reheating was actioned promptly without issue.
So from the friendly, attentive assistance from staff, the excellent background music set at a comfortable conversation level, and the truly scrumptious comfort food, Thank You, Kelly O's - you're two-for-two for an enjoyable dining experience!
January 2025 - The free birthday meal lured us in and on a frigidly cold Wednesday and it was the best decision ever. Seriously, for lunch up to $20 off one menu item -OR- after 4pm up to $30 off one menu item for dinner. WOW!
We went for dinner and had the St Patrick's Stew, an ample-sized, hearty, saucy bowl of AAA braised beef, potatoes, carrots steeped in Guinness-richness. Topped with handful of fried onions and accompanied with a classic Yorkshire Pudding, it was divine. The one thing missing to make it and absolutely perfect meal? A buttery wedge of Irish soda bread to soak up every last drop of the gravy.....
We also ordered the traditional roast beef dinner which was equally satisfying. Flavourful gravy smothering thick slices of AAA roast beef, piled on top of creamy mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables with a perfect crumple of a Yorkshire Pudding. So warming, so comforting, so good.
The finale was the Chocolate Conspiracy. No words, just order it. Okay that's not fair, here are some words - if you're a chocolate lover, you won't be disappointed and any chocolate cravings you've had will be satisfied for some time.
A truly unforgettable evening at what felt like a small and cozy neighbourhood tavern. But it's not! It's a well laid out restaurant pub in the heart of the city with ample drink options and a super fun hopping atmosphere on really busy nights. Well worth a visit at any time of the day. The food options and amazingly cheerful staff will make your week like...
Read moreHard to say what was worse, the food or the service...so let's start with the service.
Our waitress ignored us for the most part, never offered to refill our water glasses (which had no ice) and gave us 3 napkins for the 4 of us. When the drinks arrived they almost slid off the tray and were not served to us, just grouped in a corner of the table. When we asked for a water refill it didn't come, so we had to ask again. One of our party asked for a lemon slice which never came.
Now the food...
When the signature "O'Bryan Bowl" came to the table, the waitress said, "the bowl is warm because it was in the steamer", steamer? Don't remember reading that bowl was with "steamed vegetables"? Thanks for the plate of soggy vegetables. Notice I said plate, because it was served on a plate not a bowl, maybe the bowls don't fit in the steamer! It was what I would imagine those microwaveable prepared meals would taste like, if I would ever have to consume one. Michalinas!!! There was literally no flavour, just the listed ingredients steamed (apparently) and dumped in a bowl...I mean plate...I mean what is this even trying to be? So confusing. We also had a burger, which was served with a dried out ice cold bun. So dried out that it broke in two on first (cold) touch. When we asked about the cold bun, the waitress said "oh we don't warm up the buns here", great so straight from dehydrating fridge to plate. We asked for another bun and when the meal returned we had to ask the waitress if we could get our fries back too? The condiments on the bun were just squirted on and not spread. It was terrible! Never once were we approached and asked if our meal was good or if we needed anything so we literally had to share a napkin. Come bill time, 100% full charge. Thank you, come again. Haha, no I do not think so.
Terrible food and quite possibly the worst...
