I can't say much about the food as the incredibly bad service saw us walk out after embarrassing behavior on behalf of your staff and the table they tried to sell to us as "a cozy vibe" that was essentially a cupboard under the stairs.

We were in Kelowna visiting for one night and are honestly shocked about how we were treated at your restaurant.

We asked for a table for two and one of your staff claimed they had a table upstairs. They brought us up only to find there were people already sitting at it, we awkwardly stood amongst the tables disturbing people's meals while your staff went back and forth on the table numbers, to which we were told there was already someone sitting there...no duh. Very unprofessional.

We then had to awkwardly be shuffled back down the stairs while we were reassured that there was another table downstairs, a "cute nook with a cozy vibe"...we were sat under the stairwell, in a "box" that makes Harry Potter's broom closet bedroom look impressive.

To make matters worse, the IKEA plastic chairs we were given were much too high for the wooden crate being offered as a "table"... You want us to crouch over to eat our meal? The lights were so low we could barely read the menu and we had a straight line view in the open bathroom door.

We tried to give you guys the benefit of the doubt but another staff member came to our "table" peered through the beaded curtain being used as a half assed attempt to separate you from the hallway to the open bathroom door.

He didn't even stand close to the curtain or move it aside, he spoke to us through the curtain as if we were infected, in isolation in your "cozy nook".

I asked him about their gluten free options as I have an allergy, and he acted as if I was asking him physics questions...it's a simple yes or no, are your staff not trained on allergies??

Both interactions with each staff member left us wondering if we stepped into an establishment where all the staff were too high to function correctly, it was awkward and uncomfortable and not acceptable.

We decided to leave. We stood up and handed the menus politely back to a passing waitress only to see the staff, including one who came to our table, standing at the bar looking disgusted and dare I say gossiping as we walked out.

Look, I'm sure you serve good food, but it's ridiculous that you have so little regard for your customers that you try to fit them under the damn stairwell while intending to charge 20$ an appy.

Train your staff correctly or ask them to stay sober for their shifts, it's their job to create a nice environment, not parade guests around and make them feel uncomfortable.

0/10, maybe the food is good if you can withstand the atmosphere...

ATTENTION ALL GenX SURVIVORS !!! This is a GenX Approved Restaurant and yes… I can safely say, I speak for the entire GenX Population at large.

This place is 100% guaranteed to provide you with the following:

  1. Genuine feelings of being teleported back to 1979-1985.

  2. After the initial euphoria wears off, you may be instantly overcome with intrusive thoughts to when that cute girl refused to kiss you during a game of spin the bottle, because she was only playing spin the bottle to kiss your best buddy, who’s dad had a huge boat and a nicer car than your dad. That never happened to me of course… I was just guessing/pretending that something like that took place to some other kid.

  3. You may keep expecting your mum to keep coming downstairs to make sure you’re not trying to watch “the scrambled channel”… again, not me, but somebody else.

  4. Upon entering the living room, you may find yourself expecting the lingering odour of nicotine and several half packs of Craven M’s and Player’s light strewn about the room.

  5. You may find yourself scanning to room for your dad’s beer fridge.

  6. You may, as I did, look at your beautiful date and wonder if you’re gonna get to play “7 Minutes in Heaven”, and hope she lets you get to second base.

  7. You may actually think you are back in the late 70’s or early 80’s and wonder why your date is so much older than you, but then you don’t care, because it seems like ‘second base’ is a sure thing.

In other words, this place is amazing. It’s definitely NOT a corporate chain restaurant and it shows. Our server was absolutely lovely and the young lad who is the GM is equal to his role and clearly loves his job…. But seriously brah !!! You look like you’re 16 or 17 lol but you clearly have the respect of your team, which proves your leadership abilities.

Well done to the entire team. Exceptional food, service, atmosphere...

I went to a lot of restaurants in Kalowna, but Skinny Duke's was easily my favorite. Not only does it have a 70s vibe going on, it has amazing food. It's like the menu was made for me. Full of interesting and delicious options under a single menu. It's as if the the creator of the menu went out and said "I'm going to give the people what they want" and then delivered on it. The servers are fun and delightful. They were very helpful describing the dishes as well. I went here two different nights. I wish I went a third. I had the Southern-ish Fried Chicken & Biscuits on the first night and the Crispy Garlic Crab Noodles on the second night. Both great with the chicken being better. In terms of atmosphere, there are two sides to the main floor of the restaurant, one side gives you a stronger 70s feel. If you're visiting Kalowna, or a resident, you have to go here. These were my comments on the Chicken Southern-ish Fried Chicken & Biscuits: phenomenal - perfect cook. Juicy, get rid of the green garnish-gets in the way, needs more biscuit because it's delicious, interesting smash. Lots of flavors on the plate. Chicken has a light bit of spice which is very complimentary. Gravy underneath surprisingly good. no issues

I visited this restaurant twice with a friend during evening hours, and found it quite enjoyable both times. The atmosphere and aesthetic of the restaurant is unique and interesting, and I liked the '70s/'80s style, decorations, and music, which made it a memorable dining experience. Service is rather quick and staff are very friendly, and allowed to make table reservations over the phone when I had issues with the reservation website. The food is somewhat on the more expensive side but it is pretty delicious. I tried the Amelia pizza and smash burger here, and would recommend both items. My favourite element of the pizza was the mascarpone cheese which went really well with the other ingredients both flavour-wise and texturally, and the smash burger was overall pretty good too, and what stood out to me was that the burger sauce and aioli for the fries had a more distinct and pleasant flavour than in many other restaurants I've tried. As said before, the atmosphere and style greatly adds to the enjoyment of eating here, though I would note that occasionally it could get pretty loud during busy hours. Personally I did not have an issue with that but I know some people do.

My girlfriend and I spent a day in Kelowna & found this place after receiving several recommendations, and it was AWESOME! We ordered the Duck Spring Rolls, the Chicken Sandwich, and the Amelia Pizza, and everything was excellent. The spring rolls were perfectly crispy but not overcooked, and they had an excellent flavour. It wasn’t mindblowingly good, but still very solid. The chicken sandwich was unlike any chicken sandwich I’ve ever had. It was actually pink, not because it was undercooked, but because of the marinade they used! It had this amazing umami flavour and wonderful acidity. The chicken was slightly dry, but they made up for it by making sure the sandwich had enough sauces, so we couldn’t even tell unless we had the chicken by itself. Lastly, the pizza was the star of the show! The Amelia was definitely the best specialty pizza I’ve ever had! Very fresh ingredients, excellent crust, and the sauce was great too. Ive heard the pizzas are all great here so give the Amelia a try! Overall, I loved our experience! Even beyond the food, the atmosphere was very cool, and the decor had a nice gothic dark feel. Very interesting design! 9.2/10
