Don't be fooled by the price! We decided to try out the Country Chalet Restaurant on October 5, 2017 as we frequent the Niagara region on a regular basis. We had seen the price of $6.99 All You Can Eat and had hoped for a good breakfast. When we got seated, we were asked about drink selections. Informed of prices and that I was unable to get a glass of water, but a bottle of water was available for $2.99cdn. Since the place obviously exists without taps, I opted for no drink.
We checked out the 'buffet' which amounted to not much more than a massive bowl of very plain yogurt, a very large bowl of canned mixed fruit, hard boiled eggs that were very old and unpeelable. Next came the hot portion consisting of day old bacon that had been reheated on a very dirty, old greasy griddle making the bacon impossible to eat. Scrambled eggs, toast that was brought out from the back kitchen, pork sausage links, the absolute cheapest deli sliced ham they could find and some pre-packaged 'french toast' that would have been heated through to serve. And to add insult to injury, they only provided ketchup packets upon request.
In no way do I hold the wait staff accountable for this atrocious restaurant fare, but more so, the owner and management who obviously take no pride or concern in their reputation or quality in their establishment. In my opinion, this place is a cash cow to line the pockets of the owners/management using unsuspecting tourists & visitors who don't know what good food really tastes like in the Niagara region. This place give the area a really black eye.
I suggest you don't walk, but run away from this place and go somewhere else such as the Grande Buffet located in the Fallsview Casino. While children are not allowed in and adults under 30 will get carded by security, this is the best breakfast buffet in town for the price of $22cdn a person. It's worth...
Read moreFood was not that good, and terrible service and way overpriced. Should have walked out and not pay. But had to run to checkout after a hour and only 1 plate. My 3 yr old was still hungry too. A milk is $4.99, Apple juice is $4.99 and 3 yr old costs same as adults $7.99?? Why? And was disappointed only brought 1 plate of food to share and never came back within 40 minutes to ask how's the food or do you want anymore when plates were empty for over 20min. So only buffet if you have 2 hrs to eat i guess.
Me and my family stayed at hotel across from this restaurant last month. And because of covid the breakfast was suspended.
So we decided to go try this all-you-can-eat buffet. For $7.99 and thought that would be good and had hour and half before checkout. Our waitress asked for drinks. I thought would be included because of buffet. Lol was wrong.
Another waitress came by and asked if wanted high chair for our 9 month old son which was nice. We just had worst server i guess. Very oblivious as seagulls came sworming in to attack the table behind us as soon as the people left. Almost breaking dishes and eating food almost 10min before someone told our waitress to turn around and do something. This was just after she took our order. And then looking at time. She never came back to ask if want more food. And checkout was coming soon. Was 40 min since she gave us 1st plate. We stood up and went to leave and find bill..asked if is buffet?? She said yes. But never offered more, and charged adult price for a 3yr old and $15 for 3 drinks , thought would be included. I've heard they even charge for water.
Would never go back after no discount for a 3yr old and horrible service. All they said "well did you eat?" , Yes , "ok here's the bill" after explaining about the waitress being useless and the surprising...
Read moreI want to say that our server was a very kind lady, but her manager was a nightmare. I am never one to complain much and I am a server myself so I know how it goes. But I didn't like the mimosa and I let my server know and asked politely if I would be able to switch it for a coffee or something. She said she had to get her manager who came up to us and said you have to pay for it I can't do anything. My cousin told her firmly that I don't like the drink so why do I have to pay for it, I also barely took a sip it was full. The manager proceeds to say "no one else has ever complained about it". I was completely shocked, as I would never even speak to a customer like that. My cousin began to get upset as the manager kept talking back and bickering with her like a child. I remember her saying to my cousin something along the lines of " if you can speak like that to me I'll speak like this to you too". My cousin is 18 years old and was acting more maturely than this grown woman. She had a bit of an accent and short hair with fair ish skin, I did not get her name. I was really disappointed by this treatment and our appetites were ruined we barely had one full plate. At the end my cousin asked her to leave us alone because the manager would not stop talking back, and she said excuse me, you can't talk to me like that, which was insane to me. I was silent the whole time, as I am just not a confrontational person and I have bad social anxiety. When she left our table I went up to our server to pay and we left. At first it was feeling racially motivated , but based off other reviews similar things have happened on multiple occasions. Yikes that was a crazy experience and will...
