My partner and I walked in around 2pm, on a Sunday (10/22/23). The hostess first beckoned us to follow and then had us stand around for 5 mins in the middle of the floor while she figured out where to seat us (the restaurant was completely empty besides two other tables). While we were waiting, I overheard one of the tables complain to their server about their food and that it was “too mushy.”
We then were seated all the way next to where a larger party vacated since the used dishes were still there for the entirety of the time we dined in (about twenty mins).
We ordered our food, which came out quickly but was then told by our server that the restaurant is technically closed, but we could stay as long as we wanted but they needed us to settle the bill promptly.
I ordered a chicken and waffle; didn’t even finish the waffle-it was absolutely terrible and I am really not one to complain about foods. The chicken tenders were ok, but the waffle was SO disappointing-no butter, and the texture of the waffle was weirdly squishy, not fluffy at all; it both tasted and looked like it wasn’t cooked long enough. I didn’t even finish it, it made me nauseous trying to eat it. I couldn’t bring myself to take it to go & I LIVE for leftovers!
My partner ordered a pumpkin cold cream coffee, and the pumpkin special which was supposed to be 2 eggs, 2 pumpkin pancakes, 2 pieces of bacon and hash browns. He asked for a side of sausage and he got 1 piece of sausage and 1 piece of bacon. He said the coffee was terrible; the foam was just mixed in instead of being on the top and the flavor was off. The portions for his order were small, too.
I didn’t want to give the server a low score since he had nothing to do w the food prep but he did get my partner’s order wrong.
Besides terrible tasting food, the total cost came out to 84 CAD, which is 61.18USD!!!!!!!!!!! WAY OVERPRICED.
Go to the shawarma place, by Smoke’s Poutinerie! It’s abut $34 CAD/dish (depending on what you’re getting) their portions and food...
Read moreWe came to this IHOP to have a good breakfast to start off a good day in Niagara, our server Tracy went above and beyond & made sure we had everything we needed to have a good experience. The food was good, however, the other server Teri had a lot of customers in the restaurant question their decision of coming here. I called Teri over & she ignored me, thought maybe she didn’t hear me, then my sister said “excuse me” 5 times with her blatantly ignoring us then finally looked up and said ”I’ll get your server” just because she didn’t want to help her since it’s not her table, what happened to team work even if it’s not her table.. & another table that she seated she squeezed them in next to another table which was dirty and she cleared it as she seated them when there was ample space to seat that table but she decided to squeeze them in next to another table which was dirty and she cleared it after she seated them, there was many other tables on the bottom floor to seat them since the top area was closed, but she decided to squeeze them in on a dirty table next to another table with no comfort. And they were looking around for at least 20 minutes looking for Teri to come take their order and she finally came out the back chatting with another server who’s shift was about to finish. She was extremely rude and even after we left I over heard her yelling at our server Tracy from outside of the restaurant, just ridiculous, this is a tourist attraction area where people spend lots of money to go to these places, you guys should really reconsider who you have working because it was not just us who complained about her in the time we were in the restaurant, I can only imagine what goes on everyday. As a server/bartender this is unacceptable. Thank you Tracy for going about and beyond for us, your hard work should be...
Read moreMy family and I dined at this restaurant today and though the table service and food was decent (nothing extraordinary), our experience with seating was horrendous. I would have left but had promised my little ones pancakes from IHOP, so here we are.
The signage to direct guests about where to wait to be seated is nonexistent, despite this we wait for a few minutes at what appeared to be the hosting station. After no response, we proceeded inside to locate a host. A lovely server directed us to a 'hostess', Maia, who asked me to 'follow' her - no eye contact or acknowledgment of the process. After following Maia outside to be seated, they proceeded to seat another family, even though I had followed her out - and completely ignored me. Didn't acknowledge that she would be back to seat me or that we were there first. After waiting, once again, we were seated by another hostess.
Throughout my visit, we witnessed multiple guests seat themselves, wander into the restaurant attempting to locate front of house staff to support them to no avail. When I asked to speak to the manager about our experience, no one came after waiting for over 15 minutes so we paid our bill and left. After some reflection, I am convinced that, despite the poor management of the restaurant, our experience was also the result of a common theme in the service/hospitality industry - a lack of attention to how guests experience these establishments from beginning to end of visit, as well as discrimination because my family is not white. We were ignored from the get go - and this speaks volumes for me. I will never spend my time or money at IHOP. Some things...
