⭐ 1/5 - Niagara Sweet and Spicy Caribbean Restaurant is a shameful disgrace to Trinidadian food. At 50, I’ve savored proper roti and doubles from Port of Spain to Toronto, and this place is an insult to every Trini who knows what real food tastes like. I waited 30 years for a Trinidadian spot in Niagara Falls, and this disaster is what we get? Someone needs to post this to @waveroommedia, @cp24breakingnews, and @torontostar so people know to steer clear of this mess. The service is beyond awful—slower than a turtle crossing the road. I saw some older woman, probably staff, slouched in the corner, glued to her phone, staring at customers like we’re in a zoo instead of working. Don’t they have a break room? The rest of the staff lounged upfront, too lazy to clear dirty tables or serve food. The kitchen sounded like a Carnival gone wrong—yelling, name-calling, pots banging louder than a steelpan band. You can’t even enjoy the decent Caribbean music or the nice wallpaper and floral decor with that chaos. The setup is a complete joke. The cashier was running around like a headless chicken because they’ve stuck delivery machines upfront instead of in the kitchen. A simple service window could fix that, but no, they’re too clueless. They don’t prep food for busy times, so you’re stuck waiting forever. The cash register? Broken. The debit machine? No receipts. And if you’re thinking of ordering online through Uber or DoorDash—don’t. Save your money and avoid the disappointment. The food is an abomination. The doubles were soggy, tasteless mush—not the crispy, spicy perfection I grew up on. The roti was off, like it was old, reheated, and still doughy. I’m convinced they make the dough for doubles, pholourie, and roti the night before and shove it in the fridge to rot. That’s not how Trini food works! Hygiene’s a nightmare too—the place stank, and I swear I saw a mouse dart across the floor. I saw a staff member with a scarf dragging on the ground, begging for a fire hazard. Staff were chatting in languages I couldn’t understand—speak English so customers aren’t left out! I wouldn’t trust their food safety; raw meat handling and handwashing seem like foreign concepts here. Compared to Leela’s Roti & Doubles in Mississauga, this place is a laughingstock. It’s unorganized, unsanitary, and unprofessional. The decor’s the only thing they got right, but that’s not enough to save this dump. It feels like they opened this just to help some folks get their papers sorted after leaving Trinidad, not to serve proper food. Typical Trini half-baked nonsense! Health inspectors need to shut this place down before it ruins Niagara’s reputation for Caribbean cuisine. Do yourself a favor—don’t eat here, and definitely don’t order from Uber or DoorDash. Spread the word: @waveroommedia, @cp24breakingnews, @torontostar—let everyone know this place is a disaster.

Read moreJust had an absolutely incredible dinner at Niagara’s Sweet and Spicy! As a longtime fan of Caribbean flavors, I was blown away by the authentic Trinidadian touches in every dish—the sweet and spicy balance in their jerk chicken was perfection, with just the right kick from fresh Scotch bonnet peppers and a hint of tropical sweetness that transported me straight to the islands. The roti was fluffy, packed with tender curry goat, and the sides like plantains and spinach were spot-on fresh and flavorful. The vibe here is warm and welcoming, like eating at a family gathering, and the staff (shoutout to the server who recommended the perfect Sorrel solo soda pairing) made us feel right at home. Portions are generous, prices are fair for the quality, and it’s the perfect spot to fuel up before (or after) exploring the Falls. Please ignore all the negative comments and support this amazing small business—it’s struggling and could use the community’s love! They’re also looking for Caribbean folks passionate about their culture to help with cooking, cleaning, managing the cash, and someone skilled in accounting and inventory to join their team. Please share this on social media, and content creators/celebrities should definitely check out this gem! If you’re in Niagara Falls, this is a must-visit—don’t sleep on it! Highly recommend for anyone craving bold, soul-warming Caribbean cuisine. Can’t wait...
Read moreI was excited to try Niagara’s Sweet and Spicy for authentic Trinidadian doubles and curries, but it was a complete letdown. The doubles were soggy and bland, with no trace of the vibrant spice I expected—just tasteless chickpeas on stale bread. The goat curry arrived barely warm, with tough meat that lacked flavor, and the rice was a mushy, overcooked mess. At $18, the portions were tiny compared to other Caribbean spots nearby that offer far better value. Service was painfully slow despite the restaurant being nearly empty, and the staff seemed uninterested in answering menu questions. I really miss the old staff from previous visits—they were warm, knowledgeable, and brought an authentic island vibe that’s completely gone now. The atmosphere was off-putting, with sticky tables and a strong, unpleasant odor that made it hard to enjoy the meal. Honestly, the smell was so bad I think a health inspector should check out what’s going on. If you’re in Niagara Falls craving real Trinidadian flavors, skip this place and look elsewhere. One star because the food was technically edible, but that’s the...
