My little teenage brother was discriminated against by the staff here. We were waiting for milkshakes and my sister overheard the worker telling another staff member in the “Great Canadian Gifts” shop (they’re locating in the same area) to call security. But we didn’t think anything of it since none of us were doing anything wrong. We then noticed that we were waiting a super long time for our milkshakes. I’d say like 20-30 minutes at this point. We could tell that he was stalling with our drinks. I noticed that we were being watched hard by these Indian ladies (and we are black btw). Still didn’t think anything of it, but we definitely felt uncomfortable. All of a sudden, a security guard barges in the store (with the Indian lady behind him who escorted him there) and starts demanding for my brother to empty his pockets and saying that there has been reports that he’s stealing from the store (reports came from the Indian staff). I told the security that my brother has candy in his pockets that I just bought him at the candy shoppe. My brother proceeds to empty his pockets. He had 2 packs of candy, his glasses case, and his airpods. The security asked the lady who reported him if this is what he stole, she looked at the items hard and long. But she knew she couldn’t say yes because they definitely don’t sell any of those items. Conveniently, when the security came, is when the milkshakes were ready. The security apologized (he was a nice white guy. this is not against him). But the Indian lady who worked there, ran out the store, with no apology when she was proven wrong. I’d like to mention that Sweet Jesus is involved because the 2 workers there (both Indian) and the 3 Indian people who worked in the shop, were all talking amongst each other this entire time, coming up with a plan to stall our drinks to call security. There is nothing worse than being discriminated against by another minority group. You can’t come to this country & discriminate other ethnicities. I could tell the security didn’t believe my brother stole anything but had to do his job. My brother is a black boy that was wearing a hoodie and I guess that sent red flags to the staff to have him followed the entire time. Thanks for leaving him traumatized and now will walk around with a feeling that if he wears certain things, he will be discriminated against. I want these staff members dealt with and we would’ve never spent our money here if we knew this would happen. Will not return because of the staff. Thanks...
Read moreThis is the worst Sweet Jesus location I have ever been to. First off, there's 1 vegan dairy free option and so you would think they would allow for more flexibility on toppings and sauces to add flavour but they are not. Also, the workers are so rude, and unprofessional. When I ordered my icecream at the top level, the girl told me it would be fine to order extra chocolate sauce on my coconut icecream because I don't eat dairy, and don't love coconut flavour so I wanted that extra chocolate to which she replied " sure no problem" . When you go to the lower level, it's where the fun begins. First I said excuse me TWICE to a group of 3 workers who didn't hear me until the THIRD time I politely said excuse me. I was unsure of whether we should give them our receipt for the order or not because they were just talking to eachother about their personal lives and I saw no one making icecream. So I thought maybe I need to give them my ticket. One girl turned around gave me a look as if I was bothering her at her job....and said they already have the ticket. They stared us down weird the whole time. Then the girl was putting my chocolate sauce on the icecream and called the girl from the top level to ask her about the extra sauce ....as if it was such a terrible thing to ask for. As if an extra squirt of sauce will put them out of business or something. And the girl at the top who TOLD ME it was no problem when I ordered , and the other 3 kept looking at me and my husband as if we were doing something wrong... And staring at us funny and then I said is there an issue with the extra sauce? Which we paid for and what is so funny , why are you smiling and talking under your breath? They made us very uncomfortable I walked away and left my husband to wait for the icecream because I will not tolerate such rudeness. All because of an extra squirt of chocolate sauce lol....
Read moreWhat is presented is a product that is remarkably impressive visually. It looks the part and is sure to turn heads if taken on the street. Unfortunately this is nothing more than a facade. Taste-wise Sweet Jesus presents an abysmal product on all fronts, and the company takes an approach to ice cream making that is as stingy, inauthentic, and passionless. This is all made infinitely worse by the abhorrent, gouging pricing.
"Flavours" consist of, first of all, the most unthinkably mediocre soft serve, which comes in the primary ice cream flavours only (chocolate, vanilla, etc.), and comprises easily 90% of what you are served by weight. The ice cream itself has no bits or pieces of anything, nothing mixed in. What you have is a big hunk of cheap, plain, and worthless soft serve, coated in a layer of something equally cheap and boring, like crumbled cake or cookie crumbs. The concept of this layer is also non-practical, as much of it is doomed to fall right off your come and onto the floor well before you make it out the store. Besides this, you may have a couple of stingy, haphazardly added chunks of other ingredients in there, or at least according to their menu you are supposed to, but my cone absolutely did not.
The store's "interior" is tiny, and its perimeter is lined with merchandise racks from the tourist-trap souvenir shop it's contained in. Their location completely lacks the infrastructure needed to serve even a moderate customer base, let alone the hordes of people swarming in from the base of Clifton Hill. Waiting inside for your order is messy, chaotic, crouded, and swelteringly hot.
An insult of...
