We stayed at the Sheraton Fallsview hotel and upon checking in were met with a few unfortunate obstacles to parking, access to hotel, and access to restrooms. As such were were provided a $40 coupon for the restaraunt. We decided to eat at the buffett our first night and we also took two additional family members staying in another room. All together we were 4 adults and 2 children. When we arrived we were seated pretty quickly but then no one came provided any information in regards to how to get beverages or whether they would be brought to us (someone simply showed us to a table, said nothing at all, and abruptly left). After waiting for at least 10 minutes we decided to go up and get some food assuming someone would surely come to take our drink orders. We were almost through our full plate of food and no one had still come to check on us. I then went up to a bus boy to ask for help and we were brought water. After that we were never offerred any refills or checked on once, not one of our plates was removed from the table. The buffett was not refilled to keep pace with the number of people eating in the restaraunt (and the restaraunt was no more than 1/3 full). We were ready for our check and I had to ask 3 different people before receiving it. The bill looked high to me so I asked why our bill was $300 if we had a $40 off gift card and was that applied. She show me at the bottom where it said $40 but I did not see a total. I took her word for it and gave her my card, but asked to recieve a receipt so I could look at it in detail further. She took and charged my card but someone else came back with my card and no receipt was brought. I then asked the same bus boy who assisted us with the water earlier to see if we could get someone to help us get a copy of our receipt and he did go up to a waitress but she never assisted us. We gave him a good tip for his helpfulness as he was the only one to offer assistance the whole visit. Finally he brought the manager to try and get us a bill. When I saw the bill, we had been charged for 6 adult meals and nothing was taken off for the coupon. The waitress tried to explain to me that she could not use the children eat free promo if we were using the $40 off coupon. I had no idea there was a children eat free promo, since no one ever spoke to us at the restaraunt but for the bus boy. She then tried to tell me she could give me back $40 and that was all she owed me. That still didn't make sense as we we overcharged. She also said she could not put the money back on my credit card but had to use a debit card. The manager then stepped in and offer to refund our $311 bill (I had left the waitress a $7 tip which was more than generous since we did not see her once). He rebated that and bill us $206 (which included a $5 tip for the waitress who had never visited us and overcharged us by $100, the busboy got $20 for his help). This was all supposed to be in CAD, when I got back home I saw that my bill was charged $206 in USD so still not correct. Worst dining experience and we never ate anything else in the hotel for the...
Read moreWe came here on a Niagara Falls tour with Zoom Tours and were completely disappointed. For a $50 buffet the food was gross and overpriced. The roast was tough/chewy, the bread was stale, the pizza was too salty (which it seems other reviews agree with). It felt awful going up the elevator and getting excited to see and smell the Italian restaurant on the same floor only to be guided to the buffet because it was paid for in our tour. If we could have switched restaurants we would have but they wouldn't let us. We wanted to sit by the windows like the other people on our tour but they made us sit in the middle of the restaurant because those were the remaining seats that were reserved for our group. They wouldn't let us sit anywhere else even though the restaurant was under half capacity and there were window seats unreserved nearby.
I was optimistic, but our server Andrew asked my grandmother to pay for her wine before we drank it or ate and she got a little annoyed at being disturbed so quickly because it disrupted the atmosphere for her, which she paid a lot of money for. Shortly after I saw and heard another server, an older gentleman, ask Andrew if everyone had paid for their drinks. He said yes, except us, who wanted to pay after. They laughed about it. I didn't like that they were laughing at her within earshot. If you're going to discuss those things don't do it where your customers can hear. We were upset with the service and the negative atmosphere. When my grandma mentioned the servers talking about us when she paid for the wine, Andrew denied it and told her not to assume things loudly.
Also, they don't serve you much here or fill your water. It really is just a diner quality buffet. The only reason they charge you so much is because it's a tourist hotspot.
If you go on a tour, especially with Zoom, I'd recommend making sure you aren't paying to go to Fallsview Grand Buffet. There's so many nice restaurants you could check out while you're at the falls. Some people on our tour chose not to pay for the dinner in their package. They got to walk around town and eat wherever they wanted. Make sure...
Read moreMy daughter and I had high expectations for this place, especially since it was great the last time we went. But yesterday we went and it was the worse experience ever. We arrived around 12pm and right off the bat, the customer service was disappointing. Two women greeted us with no smiles, nothing. Absolutely cold. But anyway we shrugged it off. They seated us, and five mins pass by we saw the same woman from the front pass by so we asked her for a drinks menu and her response was “yeah” but so visibly annoyed, which was already starting to irritate us. After waiting another 15-20 mins with absolutely no one checking in on us, we complained to one of the hosts to let him know we haven’t been attended to. Finally a waiter came over and he was super nice (sorry I don’t know his name but he was tall and Asian). He was super nice, brought us drinks and apologized for the wait multiple times. The drinks tasted bad but he was kind enough to fix them. Also the food was not great, but the service was the mainly disappointing part.
However when the bill came we confirmed that gratuity wasnt included and the waiter assured us it wasn’t. Since the service hasn’t been great overall, except for his part, we decided to leave him a cash tip directly. However when we did that he reacted strange and was upset. He kept going on about how we HAVE to choose a tip from the machine because our cash tip isn’t enough otherwise it’s pointless because he has to “pay the bar”. My daughter and I have never heard this before and never had a waiter argue with us about tip. While I understand his situation, it was very frustrating to be lectured about our tip when we were just trying to show appreciation for atleast one kind person who worked there. It was absolutely ridiculous. Please invest in training your staff to being more professional and to treat customers...
