I was really going to bite my tongue on this experience. But the more I think about it, the more I feel so cheated and gaslit.
I had went for a facial July 3rd. All went great with that. I am currently 5 months pregnant and decided to go for a prenatal message the next day.
My appointment was for 11:30. The masseuse didn’t come get me until 11:40. I didn’t mind, I thought he would just extend my time. We get into the room and he asked if I have any pain or troublesome areas. I said no, this is purely for pleasure. He proceeds to ask me if i’ve ever gotten a prenatal massage. I responded no, and then he walked me through the position I should lay in. He asked me which side I prefer. I didn’t really understand as I assumed all sides would be covered. I said I didn’t mind and he chose a side for me. He began massaging 80% of my back (as the rest I was laying on). At the very end he spent about 5 minutes on one shoulder, one calf and one foot. He told me I’m all done and he will meet me outside. The time is now 1:27. I’m utterly confused. As I’m getting dressed I’m googling if prenatal massages only cover one side of the body. Google says otherwise.
So when I go to pay, I confirm with the receptionist if prenatal massages only cover one side of the body. They confirm that you should have been flipped half way through. They then asked for the masseuse to come talk to me. I asked him the same question and he totally gaslit me. He said “remember, we talked about this in the room. You said you only wanted one side”. I’m super confused at this point. I responded that I said I didn’t have a preference for sides and he was able to chose for me. Assuming that he would just flip me over half way through. He went on to say that would take time and I should have just asked if I wanted to do the other side of my body. He kept blaming me to the point of me crying and asking to just pay and leave. He stormed off and I paid and left. I’m utterly baffled at this interaction. I expressed i’ve never done this before and the expectation is for me to explain your job to you? I don’t understand why anyone, let alone an expecting mother would want half their body massaged.
Safe to say I won’t be visiting this spa again. I definitely wouldn’t recommend it for...
Read moreYes, the place is worth it, but you really need to get there early to fully realize the value. The massage was decent enough and - though I would’ve preferred more pressure (like maybe that of a jackhammer) - the therapist was thorough. So the massage itself was just average and is on me for not asking for more pressure. However, it is the rest of the experience that you’ll talk about for years to come. There is an infinity pool that is available for two people for 20 minutes after the massage. The pool is a massive oversized jet pool that is very warm and situated in a private room with a full window view of the falls. Worth it! Then there is the waiting room you need to experience after the check-in: change into your robe, the staff will bring you a cup of tea or coffee, water or soft drink, and just sit beside the window and take in the view. There is a bowl with apples, oranges, and bananas for your appetite, also. There steam and sauna rooms for both men and women, and are open to use =all day= of your appointment so get your monies worth! And if you want facials or a mani-pedi, that’s on the menu, too! Look: this is not the place to get a sports massage; nor is it like a Massage Envy chain location. This place is designed for the person / couple who don’t mind paying a premium price for the view. It is the relaxation piece to a vacation, especially if you’re staying at the Sheraton. I stayed at the Hilton and drove 4 minutes to get there (parking is validated). Then I walked down to the park, did some people watching, had a Starbucks English breakfast tea, and drove back to the Hilton. Enjoyable several hours. Not a 5 Star spa but I would say it is a 4 Star because the place needs a bit of a refurbish due to age. The staff was nice. The chocolate cake while in the infinity pool was really good! Understand the value is in the location and, for that, it is...
