I have been ordering from Silver Wok since I moved here which was 11 years ago. Through COVID I supported them. Last night was not a good experience. I had company and decided I would order from Silver Wok. After 45 minutes waiting I phoned to see where our order was. She explained they were very busy and the order was on its way which I do understand. The driver who is the owner called and he was certainly talking with someone else and using many f words and foul language. When I received the order the female who brought it in showed me the time I ordered and it only took 56 minutes. Once here we started to eat...I warmed up the food however we all found the beef rice did not taste right. .the beef was off. I phoned to let them know so the owner said he would give me a credit on my next order. I said I probably would not be back but just wanted them to be aware. He said he would drive back and give me cash for the beef dish. I said no not worry but upset about their attitude He did show up gave me 15.00 in cash and said the dish was only 13.50 so more than covered? I gave him the beef entre back and said honestly something is wrong with the dish. I owned a small business for years and know how important it is to support which is what I have attempted I always ensure I do a substantial tip as times are difficult. DEFINITELY not giving my business to this business...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been a customer at this restaurant for well over a decade. In fact, the owner, Yan Yi, was a client of mine for some time.
The food here is second to none!!
However, I am bothered by the fact that the owner's husband is less than polite. And this is not my first encounter with him. Tonight, as I suddenly found myself driving behind him while he was on delivery on Lyons Street in Kingston, he was driving a white VW Atlas, very slowly (10km/h) on the right side, seeming like he was pulling off to the shoulder. As I signalled and went to drive around him on the left he suddenly turns left without even signaling and nearly hits the front passenger side corner of my car. I turned around and drove back to explain that it's important to use a signal for situations like that as he almost collided into my car. Failing to signal or signal properly is one of the reasons why accidents happen. Something Kingston is notorious for. Instead of apologizing and recognizing that he made a mistake by failing to signal he instead blames me for going to drive around him and proceeds to curse, swear, using f-bombs, and all kinds of wonderful language.
Accept responsibility for your mistakes and learn how to drive before you chastise those who are...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI'm never one to expect or feel entitled to be treated like royalty when receiving a service, especially in a casual setting like this.
However, this place does not come close to meeting the bare minimum in terms of their level of customer service.
It was the middle of the afternoon and the restaurant was empty. This is probably partially why they could not be bothered, but it took a full 15 minutes before the owner/manager would even acknowledge our presence and bring us menus.
At this point, she was already quite rude, dry, and visibly annoyed. After we had asked a couple of short and legitimate questions (which meat is used in a certain dish when it was not marked on the menu), she proceeded to lose her patience and literally yanked the menus right off our hands. We were not negative, never complaining, and certainly never got aggressive with her at all. This was obviously our cue to leave them alone.
I can't say how their food tastes and certainly don't ever plan on finding out. If you enjoy the bare minimum not only in terms of customer service but merely in terms of manners and decency, I certainly don't recommend that you do either.
Though thankfully cut short, this was an extremely unpleasant and...
