I was just leaving Midtown Mall when I noticed door to restaurant was open. I decided to go and try a dish, something different. As I stepped inside I was greeted by the warm rich aroma of Afghani splices - it's comforting, inviting, and makes you feel like something special is cooking. I told one of the handsome servers it was my first time there,he smiled and said it was their Opening Day also. He suggested I try Afghan Burger, which was actually a wrap with egg, fries, and sausage on a bed of lettuce and cilantro with your choice of toppings. I just had white sauce. I was also given a sample of rice cooked with raisins and carrots. Absolutely delicious. That sample was a meal in itself. (He told me to mention handsome server in my review so here it is! with festive balloons marking their Opening Day the cozy dining area felt warm and full of promise. Everything looked clean and thoughtfully presented which shows their attention to detail right from day one. The Afghan burger wrap I tried was a recommendation- and to my surprise free of charge as part of their Opening celebration. May I suggest you visit this restaurant as soon as you can. Prices are comparative to similar restaurants in the area but the quality and service is noticeably better. I've included some photos to help you get a feel for the space - I hope they give you a good sense of what...
Read moreI recently ordered delivery from Mawlana Kabab, and the experience was fantastic from start to finish. I went with the Qabli Palaw with Mix Kabab and Naan, and everything turned out to be absolutely delicious. The Qabli Palaw in particular was outstanding, aromatic, flavorful, and easily one of the best versions I’ve tried. The portion sizes were very generous, making it excellent value for money. The naan was also a standout, soft, fresh, and perfect for pairing with the dishes.
The Mix Kabab was flavorful and well-grilled, offering a good variety of meats, Beef Cubes and Kafta. One suggestion I’d make is to include chicken in the mix, which would round out the platter even better and add more balance to the selection. Alongside the main dishes, the soup served as a great starter, especially when paired with the naan, and the fresh salad on the side was a refreshing complement to the heavier dishes.
Overall, Mawlana Kabab delivered a top-notch Afghan dining experience at home. The flavors were authentic, the portions generous, and the quality impressive. If they continue to maintain this standard, this will easily become a go-to spot. I’ll definitely be trying more items from their menu...
Read moreWe each got a different daily special, which on that Friday was chicken biriani with spicy, multicoloured rice accompanied by a bonus salad; and a chicken shawarma. Low prices tempered my expectations, but... "I think they're [b]aking [the pita] fresh for you," I said, astonished. Never been in a restaurant where they hand-throw, then use a roller tool to shape the dough expertly into a size that exactly fits on the round paddle that they put into the oven! We've been in restaurants connected with pita production factories, and have never had it so fresh and piping hot. Shawarma offer your selection of vegetables, and sauces. Service was great, and they deserve bigger crowds than the Midtown Mall normally draws. This place has spoiled us for other wrap places, and...
