Jâsuis tellement déçu. Je ne peux pas vraiment croire mon expĂ©rience. I came from Oshawa on Friday night (Dec 6) having heard amazing things about the crĂȘpes and the French speaking employees. I always look forward to an opportunity to speak to les francophones.
The shop was so full, I couldnât see the till. But none of the guests had food, only tap water. They filled the seating area and blocked the front counter. My friend and I were not greeted, but one of the guests spoke in English to tell me there was no line. As a first time guest, I did not appreciate his amused tone; I was trying to figure out where the till was, but he made me feel like I was interrupting his time with friends.
The male employee was silently cooking the crĂȘpes during my whole visit. The female employee was loudly chatting with the guests, clearly her friends, when she wasnât briefly acknowledging our existence.
While I was disappointed that they were sold out of savoury crĂȘpes, I easily pivoted and bought a box of 5 sweet. I also asked for two tap waters, which were provided promptly.
When I saw the female employee packing up our order to-go, I was confused. It was -8 with the wind chill (and my car was a 15 minute walk away, which of course she couldnât have known). I had hoped to get a picture of the crĂȘpes with the beautiful backdrop wall of the tour Eiffel and enjoy them in-house. While the seating area was occupied with non-paying guests, I had hoped they would allow us to sit and enjoy our order.
Instead of make a scene, we left. Once in my car we finally got to try the crĂȘpes. No napkins or utensils were in the bag, and the crĂȘpes were mostly cool. They were still delicious, but I consider them overpriced.
Based on the rude service I received and the unwelcoming atmosphere, I will not be recommending OFrenchy to my approx. 150 FSL students and their families, as I had hoped I could recommend this location as a place to practice using their French and have a...
Read moreI had the opportunity to order crepes from Frenchy's last night. We chose the apricot, Nutella, Lotus Biscoff, dulce de leche, and strawberry fillings. However, our experience didn't align with the reviews. The crepes lacked flavor and didn't have the expected wow factor. There was a noticeable absence of salt or icing sugar on the crepes we bought, making them seem like bland crepes with spreads found in local grocery stores. Having tried crepes in Paris, France, these didn't compare at all. It might be better to opt for crepes from Demetres or Dspot instead. There's potential for improvement in this businessâconsider diversifying toppings or refining the crepes' taste for a more authentic...
Read moreFood: We tried four different rolled crepes and all four were outstanding. My wife's favorite was the lotus biscoff, and my favorite was the dulce de leche, but I believe it would be impossible to go wrong with this place's list of flavors. Sadly they were out of milkshake base so we couldn't try their shakes. Service: Prompt and friendly. This is a takeout type of place so there's no table service or anything like that. Atmosphere: A small tiled space, kind of reminiscent of an ice cream shop. Clean and well lit but there's really not much room to sit indoors, and what seating there is isn't too comfortable (just some metal stools). There is outdoor...
