I usually don’t leave Google reviews, but the interaction I had with the staff around 1pm today was super unpleasant.
I came in and noticed some new menu items — one listed as Black Sesame Hojicha and another as Caramel Gochujang Latte. I ordered the Hojicha latte, but they made the Caramel Gochujang latte instead. Not a big deal — mistakes happen — and if I drank coffee in the afternoons, I probably would have just taken it. Instead, I politely mentioned that I had ordered the Hojicha.
The barista looked at me blankly and said, “This is the caramel Hojicha latte.” I pointed to the menu, showing the two distinct items: Caramel Gochujang Latte and Black Sesame Hojicha. The barista just stared at me and said “yes…?” with the same deadpan expression. At this point, the other baristas were watching, and I started to feel awkward for simply clarifying my order.
Eventually, the barista muttered to the cashier, “ugh this is going to keep happening,” and the cashier rolled her eyes and sarcastically said, “well I must have put it in wrong.” The entire interaction left me feeling like I was inconveniencing them for pointing out their mistake. They remade the drink but handed it to me with no warmth or acknowledgment. It was a strange and unpleasant experience. Everyone has bad days, but I won’t be returning to this location.
If you plan to feature Asian-inspired drinks, I would strongly recommend educating your white staff on what they are actually serving. To a seasoned ear, Hojicha and Gochujang don’t sound...
Read morehello! this isnt so much of a review as it is an apology- i couldnt find any other way of contacting this location. approximately a year ago from today i entered this coffee shop with my mother. as much as i love her, she is a cold hearted karen at times. we unfortunately caused a scene in the store, argued with one another, and berated the workers, all while holding up the line. the women serving us were two very kind and friendly black haired women, before we entered the store, they seemed to be smiling and laughing amongst eachother. my mother yelled at them for not accepting cash, and during all of the chaos i accidentally stole some oat milk and vanilla from the counter. as a barista myself, i know how difficult and exhausting a job like this can be, even without difficult customers. i wanted to sincerely apologize for our actions and behaviour in your lovely store. the workers remained patient and kind throughout my mothers tantrum, which was much appreciated, and the coffee was delicious nontheless. the memory of this event has kept me up at almost everyday for a year, the guilt and shame and embarrassment washes over me whenever im reminded of your store. i just wanted to finally get this off my chest, again i am so so so sincerely sorry for any pain or sadness that we caused your amazing workers. they did an amazing job. our behavior was unnaceptable and horrible. from the bottom of my heart, i am so so sorry. have an...
Read moreLove this place for their coffee, lattes, and pastry treats. Their coffee is so potent, it makes the coffee I get from other places seem watery. You can also count on their pastries being extremely moist, buttery and delicious in general.
Oat milk is awesome, so it's nice to be able to add it to coffee here or get a latte made with it. The only other place i know that does an oat milk latte better is is Library Cafe on Dundas, but that's far from here. :(
I'd say compared to other coffee shops nearby, there's a $0.50 premium on price (or $1 if you compare to Tims, but let's not) -- however you also save $ if you bring in a thermos. And also despite the long-looking line if you just go in for a coffee you'll be out pretty fast. I only ever order a specialty drink if there's a short line. I actually love their coffee so much here that I rarely get their other drinks. :P
Overall, perfect place to pop by if you want your morning coffee. Thanks to the staff that keep this place going and fueling all of us groggy...
