The pizzas here are basically dry baked round crackers with cheese and a tiny amount of pepperoni and whatever else. The amount of cheese is sufficient but don't expect much tomato sauce inside your pizza. Maybe they confuse tomato sauce with rising oil prices. I get the feeling they use one bowl of tomato sauce for an entire day's pizza making.
Actually, I wouldn't even call it round either. It's like they're making giant roti bread. You can see the pictures others have posted. It doesn't really resemble the pizza of my youth. It's just a giant dry baked roti cheese cracker.
They laddle half a spoonful of tomato sauce for your entire pizza and by the time it's baked, it'll only just be a dry red stain underneath the cheese. You won't taste any sauce. You can take the cheese off to see the red stained dough underneath. I once requested extra sauce in the online order and it was still as dry as if I had not asked for any sauce.
Once in a while, this place produces a good pizza. For a while, there was a guy who worked there who actually cared and made decent pizzas but then he left and this place went back to serving dry baked roti cheese bread.
Pizza Pizza was once a part of Toronto culture and it had a very distinctive taste and smell. All that is gone now. Now, there's nothing left of the original Pizza Pizza except their branding and the fact they're conveniently open til 3AM.
Having grown up with Pizza Pizza and watching its quality deteriorate steadily over the past few decades, to be honest, a cheaper frozen pizza from the local grocery store actually tastes better these days.
The pizza is a constant disappointment. There's no care or detail put into it. There's never any tomato sauce, the pizzas aren't truly round (sometimes, they look like pentagon shapes) and are baked to look like rotis. Sometimes, you get lucky and they put too many pepperonis on the pizza but they're haphazardly scattered in a way that suggests they didn't care more than giving you more pepperoni deliberately.
If they had secretly bought a bunch of McCain's frozen pizzas and put it through their professional pizza ovens, it would probably taste better.
Enjoy paying $20 for a giant dry baked cheese roti cracker. This business is singlehandedly kept alive and tolerated by lots of young people who live around here that can't be bothered to cook and are willing to eat subpar quality pizza or drunken revellers after the bars close or just whoever appreciates the convenience of being able to go buy pizza at 2AM.
As customers, we know it only costs $2 in ingredients to make a pizza sold for $20. We're not asking for caviar to be added to the toppings. We're just asking for more care and quality in the make of the pizza. Rounded pizzas with sufficient tomato sauce and not overbaked until it looks like burnt roti bread.
The Popeyes Chicken place next door steals a lot of their business but isn't so great in quality either (it's actually worse because you can sometimes become ill eating their chicken) that Pizza Pizza hasn't gone bankrupt yet. One good thing about Pizza Pizza is that you will never get sick eating their pizza.
However, if a Pizza Hut opened right next door... then Good Game, Pentagon Shaped Dry Roti...
Read moreOrdered a slice and in less then 15 seconds it was handed to me, and as I walked out realized it was cold, went back and mentioned that and they argued and put another slice in the oven. Asked how long a slice is usually in and the associate Raj said normally it is put in for 20-30 seconds for optimal temperature. Waited and timed and the slice was in there for 56 seconds. The same associate said " Is this good? Are you happy now? ", I asked for the recipt and I walked out and called Pizza Pizza Customer Service. I explained the issue and decided to go back in for a refund while on the phone with CS. In there it was a huge hassle for the refund. The same associate Raj and apparently a manager who was older, also named Raj, argued with me saying " you got your slice, what's the issue? " while I was on the phone with CS. I explained the issue and had to argue with another middle-aged woman who refused to give her name and complained that I was causing issues. They finally gave my receipt and refund although in cash and I had to argue to get my receipt back to just take a picture of the refund and receipt.
I've never had this kind of issue with a Pizza Pizza before, I am absolutely stunned at the way they treated customers. Even as I was waiting in line to discuss the issue they constantly berated customers about hurrying up and cutting them off mid-order. There was another person behind the counter in a white dress shirt with some sort of pattern whom I assume was the manager/owner and as soon as he saw me arguing he left the front counter towards the back.
I cannot begin to explain how I feel about that experience. Pizza Pizza is a staple of Canada and most peoples go-to in regards to a quick, satisfactory Pizza. Extremely...
Read moreOh gosh I wish I read the reviews before visiting this location. Went to pick up my free slice of pizza after the Raptors game and this was my closest pizza pizza location. They only had cheese pizza slices which is fine -it's free so I'm not going to complain they don't have the pepperoni option. It's the terrible service that leads them to the 1-star review. First off, there is a doorbell that rings when you open the door. I still could not see any staff and there were two people who already ordered that were standing inside waiting.....it was probably five minutes or slightly longer before a female staff appeared from the back. I was almost going to leave to be honest - at least the staff member could have acknowledged they would assist me shortly when they heard the doorbell ring. So then I let them know I would like to redeem my free slice and her response was "scan it" - so I have to figure out how the scan my QR code with the dirty scanner. When it comes time to hand me my order, she just puts it on the countertop glass and barely glances at me. Is she not trained to say "thank you - here's your order". How difficult would it be to train your staff to have some courtesy? Then I came here to write my review and noticed many complaints including one reviewer who showed A PIZZA ON THE FLOOR BEFORE IT IS GIVEN TO THE CUSTOMER (photo attached). That's ridiculous!! This place would fail health inspection. I will not come back here based on that gross photo of a staff member from this store putting pizza on the floor - that is completely unacceptable. This store requires new management and new staff or a complete shut down by...
